therealljidolNew Year's Eve 2011, I was sitting in my apartment, with my cats. I didn't have much to hope for in the New Year, but I put on the Hold Steady's "A Positive Jam" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXIaTOuCk_Q because that was how I wanted to start things - in face of being absolutely miserable, I decided that I was going to try to send out some "good vibes" anyway.
A few months later, I met Cynthia and my life completely changed.
Every year since then, that is how I've started my year.
Not saying it's voodoo. But come on, do you honestly think I'm going to risk it? ;)

I know there are a lot of people nervous about 2017, but I hope that it manages to surprise us all in the best ways!

Date: 2017-01-01 06:18 pm (UTC)Rang in the night with a chop chop hibachi dinner out with the family, a rousing game of Telestrations with my kids and a sleepover friend, drank some $20 champagne - a splurge, lol - at midnight, got a sweet kiss from the hub's and then we all played Beanboozled until 2:00. You just haven't lived until you've been forced to eat a dogfood flavored jelly bean, gag!
I am hopeful 2017 rocks. I despised 2016, but even though the overarching theme of the year was suck, there were still some truly brilliant moments as well, so I'm going to hold tight to the knowledge in the future that even in a crap time, shining moments of wonderfulness can occur!

Date: 2017-01-02 02:31 pm (UTC)That being said, I wanted to participate and write this week, but the Monster in law wound up in hospital Dec 17 and hasn't gotten out yet. She had a possible heart attack (she's 87) and is back in rehab. I also had a bit of a row with her NYE. She has sundowners dementia and when hubs talked with her Xmas eve- she was a complete witch to him. She also doesn't remember. (Sigh) So, yeah. The holidays were ruined for all. She even managed to ruin my kids holiday, because we didn't drive up and put up the tree and do other Xmas'y things with them- so they just didn't do them at all.
Anyhoo... all I've done is cry out of frustration. I'll get over it! Peace...
