Apparently, the video ended up on the front page of Reddit and was shown on @Midnight with Chris Hardwick. Which is awesome - this is the band that I've been following since a little after their first album came out. (around 2007/2008). I love these guys and am glad that more people have been paying attention to them.

Although I'm torn, because their shows *here* have never been well attended - and I have that "I want everyone to go see them!" combined with "I like being right up front and having room!" feelings going to war inside of me. :)

I have no wars today. I decided against going shopping today in the -20C weather. I have to go out tomorrow, I will do it all then. Today I will tackle dust and dishes and clutter and laundry. Or not. I would much rather spend my time reading Idol entries. Such good writing!

I just had a man come checkout a book and he told me he was going home to snuggle between his two dogs, drink some tea and read all afternoon - it's a rainy chilly day. I was COMPLETELY jealous to be stuck at work! I want to go home to a book and my doggies too!

We had a dusting of snow yesterday and this morning there's black ice. Ergo, I won't be walking The Boyz until the ice melts off (roughly around 11AM,maybe?)

Had a horrible night sleeping because I spent most of last evening napping, LOL. Being overtired means I'm liable to be overly snappish or overly weepy. That doesn't bode well with social media, so I'm going to hang out over there in the corner with my coffee :points:

I actually DO have a little battle in me today. My racist parents are coming up this weekend to watch my daughter perform in the Nutcracker. Her boyfriend, who is black, will be joining us. I have already called my mom to ask her to ensure my dad doesn't do or say anything - in my home or at the performance - that would hurt my daughter or that sweet boy or he will not be welcomed back.
We don't do hate at my house.

An argument between two of my friends starts on my FB page. One friend types a comment that *could* be taken as accusing the other of being strictly a right wing, news source kinda guy.

He takes offense at her assumption and let's her know he took offense.

She responds with ANOTHER comment that "apologizes" for her assumption, and the basically turns around and accuses him again of only getting his news from Fox and Brietbart.

He is further offended, explains why, and tells her to fuck off.

She continues to push her side, trying to apologize for her mistake until he explains that she AGAIN is accusing him of only watching right wing news and ends up basically calling her a "fucking dumbass twat".

I wake up this morning to a PM from her, complaining that he called her a twat. She wants me to publicly call him out on his "abusive language" when all she ever was, was polite and tried to apologize for her assumptions.

I told her: 1. Sometimes people won't see what your intentions are, especially over the net, where there is no tone and inflection of speech.

2. Sometimes, no matter what you do, people won't accept your apology. And then that becomes their problem...not yours.

She's complaining: "I'm sorry, but I don't consider what I said to him to be equal to him calling me a fucking dumbass twat. I have been nothing but polite and apologetic - and he is verbally abusing me, Tam. That's bullshit"

This story helps validate my choice to stay away from Facebook. Moderating between friends can be tough enough when everyone is in the same room.

Ack. I'm curious, do these two friends know one another in real life? I was really surprised at how complete strangers - who happen to be friends with a common person - were just tearing into one another this year.

One good thing about Idol is it lets me get a social media fix while spending less time on FB. By the time the election was over, I had unfollowed so many people who were being nasty that I hardly got notified of anything any more!

No inner wars with me today. But it's our busiest day at the newspaper. We put 14 papers together on Tuesdays and the vast majority of the people I have to deal with are in offices all over the state. So I'll be back and forth with emails that go something like this:

"I'm sorry, but the story you've given me is too long for the space on A3. Do you have something shorter?"
"What do you mean it's too long?"
"There is a small amount of space left on A3, and the story that's assigned there is quite long. Do you have a shorter story?"
"Let me check." ....... "Here's another story. Does that fit?"
"Well, that story is about five times longer than the one I previously told you was too long, so no, it's not going to fit."
"Why not?"
"Because there's not enough space."
"So what do you need from me?"
"I need a very short story."
"Ok."

I'm struggling to wake up. I am sort of feeling like I got hit by bus while I was sleeping last night. I woke up early and was just about back to sleep when my phone rang. Then I did fall back asleep and was rudely awakened by a barksplosion from the dogs. At this point, I need to just get some caffeine on board and decide if I'm actually getting sick or just having a rough day. I'm supposed to be going to dinner with friends at a newish Italian place in town (Mothers and Sons Durham, NC).

Things at home are still challenging. We haven't reached any meaningful (to me) resolution about his mother and I'm not sure at this point that is one for me.

I don't have time to be sick. I think today is going to be a lay low kind of day. I should decide about dinner in the next couple hours. It's cold and rainy out. I think I'll hang out with my poodles and maybe knit or listen to an audio book. My friend got me started on the Iron Druid Chronicles. The Audible performances are hilarious and enjoyable and perfect for the kind of levity I could use right now.

Well, as much as I'd like to nap all day I haven't. Instead I get to take Oakley to the vet because his behavior is seriously bothering me. Keeps holding his head in the air and licking his lips, or thinks something's biting him. He zoned out during our walk earlier and I had to get into his face calling his name before he realized it was me.

I think Max is worried about him, too. He hasn't let Oakley out of his sight since this morning.

I hope it's nothing serious. My poor Bup Bup :(

Aw, thanks :) Right now he's doped up on pain meds plus an antibiotic. He was kinda/sorta half asleep for most of last night. Kept giving me that pitiful "Mooom I hurt" look :(

He goes back to the vet on Friday for a follow up. They're concerned about the head pointing/zoning out. So far he's only done it a couple of times but I think taking a walk will be the real litmus test. It has to stop raining first, though!

Is it just me or have the polls changed so that when you see who has how many votes the bar is the same length no matter how what the number is? I remember it being longer the more votes an entry has. Is this the new standard and I just missed something?

The quarter being done. One one hand I'm glad it's almost done (It's intense-this massage therapy study) but on the other hand, I'll miss the socialization it gives me.

Next week is finals week, and then it's Christmas. I'm excited about Christmas!
