That is how close it was between who was staying and who was leaving. It's why it is important to make sure you cast a vote every week to keep your favorites in the running.

This week we are losing two veterans, and two friends of Idol. One has been around for awhile and the other coming back after a long absence:

This first week was tough because there are so many entries to read, and I really wanted to try to say something responsive to each writer, but also the fact that there were so many byes! In a way good because less to read, but in a way scary because you had to make sure you had something happening in your piece to protect yourself... I mean 25 byes in Tribe 2?!

It was an odd week anyhow with Thanksgiving and all. But some really strong, great, curious and wonderful entries throughout. Congratulations to those that survived... the challenge is on!

That's seriously a lot. O...O I'm new to this game (I joined mid-game last season and this is my first full season) so I suppose I don't know all the nuances or what tends to happen, but 25 byes in a single week seems like a lot even for someone without a lot of experience in how these things go!

The truth is that nobody knows all of the nuances! Things can change in a snap. Or you'll get a prompt that you don't have a handle on, or you'll realize you have a three hour block of time set aside to write and that'll evaporate somehow, leaving you twenty minutes to create some sort of brilliance.

I'm guessing that people just either didn't know the deadline was up or that they just missed it meaning that most of the byes were "unintentional." Still, When you only get two, you hoard and covet those byes!

That's part of the reason why Gary describes this as "a writing rollercoaster with iffy brakes!"

I've had the week from hell. WEEKS from hell. I was fortunate to write my entry in basically one sitting, minimal editing, and then my world crashed around me. I didn't read any entries... I barely read the comments on my own page ... I didn't vote. I apologize to my fellow idolers and profusely thank the 24 who voted for my little piece ... and hopefully life will leave me alone long enough to do better this "week."

I hate that we ever lose ANYBODY even when it's so many folks I never find time to read anything till sometimes after voting is said and done. and then I try and comment and become a blank... but that is LJ idol and trying to enjoy it while creating for it.

This was such a tough week. There was so much to read but I'm glad there's a Second Chance this season. That opportunity to hear again from people is awesome. Sorry to lose Grail76 and WorldOfCraimar go. Although I don't know either of you well, Craimar admittedly even less than Grail, I appreciated your entries and I hope we can see you again.
