No. There will be a tie-breaker.

Season 2 of LJ Idol's final actually went into a "tie-breaker of a tie-breaker"! (and was eventually decided by *1 vote*)

It might make for better drama *not* to tell you that. But I have already said it in a comment, so it's "out there" already, just everyone might not have seen it. :)

The more I see on social media about the Orlando shootings, the more I dislike people. Not a single person has shifted a single inch - in any direction - from where they were before this. If anything, they've just gotten deeper into their trenches for the moment - and the only thing they seem to see is what they were already looking at. :O

But then again, I'm also in my own "I don't like people" trench. But that's mostly just because of you guys! ;)

ANYWAY, I'm saying as little as possible re Orlando. I'n still processing it. Once again I'm getting more of it on social media than I am IRL, which I find interesting. It's the same with every major national news story. Either I work with people who firmly have their blinders on or they're too wrapped up in their own worlds. There are quite a few who lean Trump-right, too, and I think they've finally realized that being quiet is probably their best tactic.

In other news I am a candidate for a knee replacement. I don't know whether to cry or cheer.

No doubt I'll be reveling in that once I wrap my head around the whole thing.

Most people wait until they're 65 to have one because Medicare will pay for it. But, as my primary doc said, you can't get hung up on age vs. quality of life. I'm at the point now where it's affecting my quality. I don't wish to keep eating arthritis-strength Tylenol 3x/day.

My biggest thing is my job, of course. I don't know of anyone I've worked with who's had one who's returned FT, simply because of the nature of the profession. That scares the utter shit out of me.

I've not had a lot to say anywhere either. I've been fighting and donating since Newtown and I'm just so tired and heartbroken and angry and convinced that we, as a country, don't actually want anything to change. It's exhausting.

I'm in Canada right now which means I've also had to explain the USA to friends and family members like a dozen times. They think we're insane and the only thing that helps them understand the USA is to point out that Rob Ford got elected in Toronto. Then they nod their heads sadly and ponder that the county to their south is a nation of Rob Fords.

As other people have pointed out - the gun debate is over. If the images of dead children can't shift public opinion, nothing is going to do it. Certainly not what happened in Orlando.

It's easier to get hung up on "rights" than it is to stare at images of dead children. Given that many people would rather react than let themselves be affected, it doesn't surprise me. That itself is sad.

Part of the frustration over Orlando is that where I'm not budging from is... there is no need and no excuse for assault weapons being in the hands of civilians. Enacting this form of gun control would make a huge difference in this kind of rampage, and yet the NRA and its beholden politicians will not reconsider their position of "Any gun control equals banning ALL guns."

What prog_schlock said about Newtown is true. And it isn't because regular citizens won't learn-- include some of the NRA's members. It's the position of the organization as a whole, and the ridiculous quantity of lobbying power it has.

One person with a screw loose or just an excess of evil should not be able to bring about so much destruction on innocent people. And yet, in the U.S.... it's commonplace.

So much anger and helplessness over this.
