Just a few minutes ago, Cynthia called me into the other room. She's been getting really into photography lately and had just found the official state archive for images of Florida history.

There are a ton of really cool images in there.

That, combined with the fact that the deadline for this week is actually the official 10th anniversary date for LJ Idol got me thinking about preserving history.

Is there anything of yours - writing or otherwise, something of *you* - that you would want to have preserved so that people could take a look at it long after you are gone?

If so, what is it?

and how are you feeling about the topics? http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/935840.html It is a Work Room after all. :)

My cornbread dressing recipe deserves to outlive me. Honestly, it is so freaking good.

My mom passed without me getting the recipe for the chocolate cake she used to make for my birthday, which, I kid you not, I think about every single year on my birthday.

I put some things I wrote in the time capsule of the church I used to be a member of. I kind of hate that now, because I'm a much better writer than I was sixteen years ago. :P

So, I don't know whether any of my words should be captured for posterity - but my dressing? No question. :)

ETA - A couple of the topics don't completely suck. :)

The stuff that I've created that I'm absolutely the most proud of was mostly performed live and is, thus, gone forever. Doing live theatre (especially live improvised theatre) gets you used to the idea that nothing you do will ever last all that long.

I've been listening to Hamilton a bunch and one of the major themes there is summed up in a metaphor about how a legacy is like planting seeds in a garden that you'll never get to see. Perhaps, if anything, my legacy out here is that I was instrumental in getting both the improvisational scene started and the local Shakespeare festival started. So my legacy is really just a tiny little drop in a much larger bucket. I'm ok with that.

So let me employ my psychic powers and guess which topic you're writing this week. :P

Almost 100% certain it won't be the Shakespeare one. :D

.....
or, more specifically
.......
Narrated by vlogger, Danial Tijuana Gringo, unscripted from his bedroom in the USA or Mexico, Son of Chippy 221 delves into the mind of a security guard reluctantly guarding a gallery below an apartment complex. Surrounded by imagery shot virtually and on location in Aldershot, it features Banger Racing and island demolitions.
