I had a lot to talk about today, but I've temporarily forgotten all of it! :)

I'm sure I'll remember later and put it in the comments...

OH! I have the first 12 potential topics for Season 10!! That's exciting! (Granted, about half of them were from the "not used" pile from Seasons 6-8. But I really like the new ones. It's still a way off, but I like what I have so far)

That's just one thing I was going to say. If I remember more as I go, I'll insert them. If not, as I said before - it'll be in the comments. :)

It's been an interesting week work wise. There was a water main break that shut us down early on Monday. They ordered porta potties, but as soon as they realized they wouldn't be in on time, they let us go. Or rather, they told us to leave and OUR bosses mentioned it us two hours after that decision. ;)

Yesterday, it was announced at 9 am that the building was shutting down. They told us at 11:30 that we were leaving at noon.

After making an 2 hour bus ride into work (my ride is about 2 hours and 15 minutes) I got a call telling me the office was closed and to turn around. I was in a "bad neighborhood" at the time, so I waited until I got to the bus depot (also in a bad neighborhood, but there are more people around) a few minutes later to hop off the bus and wait for the next one. (Plus - more options on what bus to take home)

When the bus was in sight, I got a phone call to come in!

The water main is still busted - so no running water/no restrooms. There have been talks that we will find out "in two hours" what is happening today. Which means we will find out a few hours after that. :)

While I'm waiting around to see what is going to happen next - YOU KNOW! You're going to write your entries and link them over at http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/929542.html

Guess that means that your workplace is experiencing it's own unique restroom crisis! LOL

I shopped in Target last night.
I don't get all the big fuss. I used the "regular" ladies' room. They had a "regular" men's plus the "alternate" bathroom. No big deal.
I was more interested in the Starbucks and getting 5% off w my Red Card.

Too bad you're not taking the hyperloop.

What's a hyperloop? We have light rail transit. Is it like that?

It's still in the planning stage, but the future? I dunno....I can't imagine, with my claustrophobia, climbing into a pneumatic tube....

Do you not drive at all? If my regular commute was a 2-hour and 15-minute bus trip, I would definitely drive. I don't have the patience for that-- especially twice a day!

My 35-minute commute gets me grumbly, maybe because I've been doing it for almost 23 years and it hasn't gotten any shorter. I'm good with about 15 minutes. ;)

Whoa. That's kind of boggling my brain here. There's no doubt it would be QUITE a stretch to say my stories would qualify, even though I do specifically try to work in things about me into each of them. I wonder what the hell I would do with that directive these days... hrmmm....

It hearkens back to the days where Idol was primarily nonfiction. Fiction was an unspoken no-no the first few seasons because it wasn't considered "the real you".

It's true. That directive (and subsequent "unspoken rule") was a good portion of why I kept my distance until the mini-seasons came around.

I'm glad that rule changed. I'm not public about myself anymore. I just finished setting all of my journal prior to 2012 to private because I don't want some aspects of my past self coming back to haunt me. I was going to do it entry by entry, see what I wanted to leave public or friends-only but it got way too painful. So if anyone wants to know what I was like when I was 21 and first started this journal....I was an idiot. For a long time.

Of course when Idol first started, internet revenge wasn't nearly as nasty as it is today so it was okay to be more open. Nowadays I don't feel that comfortable with it.

That's just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

This elicits neither glee nor ire in me. :P

Whenever we would have these argu discussions, I would point people to the Idol profile page where it used to say it was a journal writing competition. That page has changed.

I don't think we have a bad neighborhood in this city. The police may feel differently, but I am not aware of one. Now as a child in Scotland there were areas that one didn't go to in Glasgow, and I think even Edinburgh. I have heard that Toronto and Vancouver have...rough areas.

Maybe it has to do with the size of the population...we're at about 1.1 million.

Apropos of nothing, there is a DEAD SQUIRREL in my backyard at the moment, its life snuffed out by one very "I like to kill small furry things" husky dog.

At least it's not a chicken. Those were his original prey, thanks to the farm a few doors away from where his original family still lives. That's why he's now ours.

Oakley had been eyeing this particular squirrel the past few days. Yesterday he sat under the tree every time he went out back, with the squirrel frozen in position maybe 10 or so feet above his head.

I don't know how he caught it. I was at work when it happened. All I got was a panicked text from SO.

At least he didn't eat it EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

And now I get to dispose of it. Whee.

ETA: I just returned from doing the deed. A spade, two plastic grocery bags, one trash bag. Tied a knot and disposed the stiff remains in the trash can down at the park (we're talking rigor mortis as in "Hey, this would make a great addition to a diorama!")

Yay for season ten topics! Do you have a ball park idea of when season ten will begin? Even if you don't know/don't want to tell us the month, do you have a season in mind? Or whether it will be in 2016 or 2017?

Eep, sounds like a hectic time.

There's going to be a season 10? :O (I imagine you've been talking about this, I just haven't been checking the Green Room).

Hello from a former contestant! (circa seasons 6-7). I got a lot out of Idol, and I credit it with kicking me in the pants to write a novel, which I published. Then publishing became a thing, and I followed that up with an anthology, which included a few other Idolers. That anthology was shortlisted for Best Anthology at the 2014 Aurealis Awards. Now I'm in the middle of publishing my second anthology, and I'm crowdfunding the launch to help me pay my writers.

Marked by Scorn, this new anthology, features non-traditional relationships explored in poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. It really encapsulates my desire to share diverse stories with characters of different race and sexualities. I'm really excited about this book and I hope, if it sounds like something you'd like to read, you'll go have a look at the campaign to find out more, and maybe buy a copy. The first 20 ebooks are only $4, and 3 of them have already been claimed. Here's the link to check it out (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/marked-by-scorn/x/968017#/).
