Sorry this is getting up late - I had a surprise anniversary dinner date! We ended up going to a place that I’ve been wanting to eat at since it opened a few years ago. I went in with high expectations, and if anything, the food exceeded them!

Which is far different from when I got home tonight. My expectation was that I was going to see 21 entries in the topic thread. Instead, I saw that there was a drop and someone else who missed the deadline. So I went to the spreadsheet and realized that when the byes were distributed out at the end of the teams - as well as a “whoever needs it gift bye” that had been left unclaimed, so they both ended up with one!

So congratulations encrefloue and witchwife, you are still in the hunt!

Which, considering how much it would suck to see two people that I like a great deal go out like that - this close the end - and this being the final week to use those byes - that improved what was already a good night. I'd hate for anyone to have that happen to them. Everyone going forward though no longer has that safety net, so please don't make me eliminate any of you because you've missed the deadline!

The minus is that the voters are about to send two contestants into the Home Game.

I’ve said it before - and I’ll say it every week until people actually listen: Your favorites need your love, support, comments - and votes. So if there is someone who has written something this week that makes you go “Oh hell no - they need to stay! I want to read more!” you need to make sure they survive another week. Vote for them and spread the word that Idol is where people need to be!

I needed to check anyway, to make sure everything was properly updated. I just received good news (for them) when I did. (and I went back and checked it several times to make sure)

As someone who was unexpectedly saved a few weeks ago by a bye from the pool, I appreciate witchwife and encrefloue getting another shot! Sometimes life gets busy and I would hate to see anyone go out like that this late in the game.

Another great round of entries, but as someone who often has to squeeze in my reading on my phone, I am will admit I'm glad the number is getting much more manageable.

Wow. You have no idea how happy this makes me. It's been such a busy week at work I've barely had time to breathe. When I realized I wasn't going to have time to write an entry for this week, I was feeling pretty crushed. This makes my day.

At least you didn't get home from eating expecting to see 21 stories only to find that you had gotten 29--one area where exceeding expectations is probably a bit much.
