A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:

This is the last round of the Teams. I hope that you have enjoyed this particular twist. I know that I learned a lot about what I would, and wouldn’t do with idea in the future. There is definitely some potential there, but who knows if this was a one-off or something that could pop up again.

That’s what is kind of exciting about it.

This stretch of Idol is about transitioning into a solo game, one that the Rivals have been playing the entire time. It is going to be fun to see how it all plays out!

Unfortunately, there are two people who will not be making that journey with us:

[livejournal.com profile] lawchicky and [livejournal.com profile] tijuanagringo

Two very talented, and good, people that I’m really happy to have seen come this far in the mini-season. I wish we could have seen more from them. (Hopefully they will play the Home Game and we can!)

As for the rest, the ones still in the competition: we will be losing some more this week.

2 from the Friends and 1 from the Rivals.

Our time together is rapidly growing shorter. I hope you take the time to read, comment and vote for your favorites - to help us get one step closer!

The poll closes Monday, March 28th at 9pm EDT

Good luck to everyone!

[livejournal.com profile] lawchicky and [livejournal.com profile] tijuanagringo I am so sad to see you go. Please stay in home game, or just raise your wonderful writer-voices, because more missing you will be just too hard.

I want to thank you for opening my mind and heart to poetry again. I used to love it so much when I was deluded enough to think I could write it. When I realized I couldn't, I kind of avoided it. I would read it with my eyes, and with an objective mind, but without my heart. You taught me how to really open up to poerty again. To listen to it with my heart open. I wish I could explain what I mean better. Thank you.

dearest murielle your words are so kind and complimentary, thank you. You can write poetry. You can. I too have wandered in the garden of disbelief, and I must confess you have discovered a key to the gate: read with your heart. Now, kind person, all you must do is write with your heart. We all know how to do that, but we are taught for so many of those years in school to "be objective"... the heart is almost never objective. But you already know that. The mind is fine for analyzing, but we must also feel. Thank you so much for your gracious words to me, but again, I may have been a catalyst, but it is you yourself who discovered how to "open up to poetry again" and I thank you for sharing that moment with me it gives me a grain of salt of faith and belief and flavor.

Aw, I'm sorry to see both of these writers go, and sorry the_lettersea is leaving us prematurely!

The unintentional self-eliminations are one of the things you can never predict in Idol. :(

Will miss [livejournal.com profile] lawchicky.

Just had a weird experience in an Applebee's. The waitress came up and asked the little kids if the Easter Bunny will be bringing them a basket. My sister said not this year. The waitress apologized and later brought them plastic eggs with candy in them, after checking that it was OK. I don't know what she thought. We didn't feel like explaining we spent the week retrieving personal memorabilia and cleaning at our Mom's house in preparation for the estate sale and that my sister's family will head to Virginia tomorrow to be at the bedside of her husband's mother who is dying of cancer. Not a time to be selling out egg hunts.

Should have been "seeking out egg hunts."

Thank you for the thoughts. It was one of those autocorrect mistakes so common these days, but it seemed so amusing I just left it and posted the correction separately. I think you and I have a similar sense of humor: the accidental, dadaist jokes that life plays on us.

So much nowadays begins to seem interconnected. I think it is my brain trying to make sense of it all.

When you think about it, egg hunts kind of are "selling out," according to religious folk, right? Part of the commercialization of the most holy holiday? Of course, in my household, that's all that the holiday is to my little boy.

ah, but the meaning of the egg hunt is far more complicated and should be puritanically controversial, and would be, were it not for... for what reason I am not sure what for, exactly, but the fact remains that the egg, as a symbol of fertility and eternity, and even the name "Easter" itself (in English), are both pagan, later adopted by Christians.

of course, candy and sugar are another, separate delight, and chocolate... well, the old world did not know about chocolate until the Spaniards "discovered" it in Mexico
.
mmm now I want some candy. chocolate......

Depends on the religion. :)

Like holly and mistletoe and candles at Christmas, eggs and bunnies at Easter are co-opted.

What a sweet thing for her to do. There is so much kindness in the world. Too often I miss it because I'm preoccupied with my life. It is so touching that amid all you are going through, you not only noticed, but shared it with us. Thank you. :-)

I have to admit, we were all a bit numb and drained at that point. Earlier in the week, we had talked about trying to find an egg hunt for the kids, but that idea got shelved as we were faced with the reality of how much there was to do. Fortunately, none of our kids are accustomed to giant Easter baskets, so they had lowered expectations to begin with. They spent the week playing with each other, and it was a vacation to them.

Children are so wonderfully adaptive, and forgiving, and can make a vacation out of anything. It's great thet they all got to hang out together. :-)

That was really sweet of the waitress.

Sometimes, you just aren't up to the regular festivities, for a variety of reasons (and your were particular sobering and emotionally draining). But it's sure nice for the kids to have a little something, and I'm sure that helped. :)

Sending you strength during this period, and hoping your sister can use it too.

At the time, my sister found it a bit obtrusive, but I recognized the gesture. I left her a 25% tip and wrote "thank you" on the receipt.

Thanks for the good thoughts. I am back home and can concentrate on tasks that are a bit less emotionally draining, such as beginning to scan in some of the very old photos we found this week. We want to make a digital archive, partly so that her surviving cousin can hopefully help identify people, and also so that we all have access to them, regardless of where the photos are stored.

I believe that when we search for a new apartment, we will look for one with a room that can serve both as an office for me and as a permanent storage place for the photos and whatever works of art my sister and brother don't claim for their own.
