Green Room - Week 7 - Day 4

I was starting to put the Gold Stars together this morning, but then realized that my "they don't have one" list still includes a few people who aren't around anymore! So I'll be going over the list and then checking around to see who's done what that I can honor (since I still want to encourage people to do more and show them that they are appreciated.)

So that will be sometime this afternoon, probably after the poll is posted.

I did see the question: "Why don't you have a forum for the people playing the Home Game?" from yesterday's Green Room. I've answered that question a few different ways depending where my head is at, but it's a good question and for me comes down to fundamentals. I want the focus to be on writers currently in the competition. That is where the only spotlight should be. Anything that takes away from that is just something extra.
I LOVE when people play the Home Game. But I'm not going to give anything close to equal footing. This is the moment for the people in the game, as it should be.

Was up till midnight on work stuff. Unfortunately my boss's lack of planning does constitute an emergency on my part, since she signs the damn paychecks. GAH! At least I can do some of this from home, but still didn't actually GET home last night till 9pm. Meh.

How I am doing today?
Tired but not bad...
Got a million things on my mind today as I need to get ready to leave for Dallas a just about this time tomorrow. I have a running to do list in my head, hoping work goes by fast so I can get home and complete said to do list. Speaking of work it's orientation today for new hires which hasn't been many this month so I am hoping quietly that no one shows up (not in the mood to give it today).

Beyond that...

As of today, I will be finished my Christmas shopping, and even then it's only a few stocking stuffers I have to pick up. If you only knew my complete and utter lack of holiday spirit this year, you'd commend me for this remarkable achievement.

I managed to get a good night's sleep last night so I'm actually full of more energy than usual this morning. My big agenda for the day (aside from voting when the time comes) is going through all of Teddy's toys to give away the ones that he doesn't use anymore/I'm not planning on keeping for the next child/sentimental sake. I should have done it earlier so the moms that shop at Goodwill by necessity rather than by choice may have had some better choices, but I'm the Queen of Procrastination.

Tonight is the Big Dumb Work Party for which I'm going to have to lose two hours of pay. *grrrr* At least I get to look good to my boss for going even though I'm pissed about the night crew's treatment (since it wasn't her doing and she fought for us). But at least I'll be eating steak and shrimp scampi. Small consolations.

And before I forget... *raises a glass of hot chocolate liberally spiked with Kahlua* Thank you to everyone for your wonderful writing, your wonderful friendship and your big hearts. You're a wonderful group of contestants to be going through this season with. Happy Holidays and a joyful Thursday.

Wow, the green room really exploded into activity this morning, didn't it???

I'm trying to make the brain-shift from OMG!stressed about the holidays to OMG!excited because I get to see multiple friends I have seen in almost a decade AND I get to take a fab trip in January with no kids.

But ohhhh man, it's haaaard to do.

Jeeze-louise. I just got in last night from an utterly exhausting trip through the entire Gulf coast documenting "disasters" a-la nature and man. It was depressing and enlightening to say the least.

I had the strangest dream last night.

John and I met the Weasleys last night. We were in South Africa, planning a 12-hour drive from South Africa to Egypt. We wanted to take the scenic route... (Funny how some of the countries on the map looked like Alabama and Mississippi.)

A bit tired and achy this morning. (This is like a trend for me ain't it? Nearly always tired and blahaise about work. I blame the cold weather. I hate the cold)

But I am toasty today. Work's xmas gift was a warm hoodie and I have my D-Fly blankie across my knees. Got my coffee *snuggles the mug* and a large sticky bun for my breakfast with a side of tylenol.

I'm just going to get done what I can today at work and if they don't like it, they can lump it. *g*
