My dog was just going crazy, scribble-scrabbling around, trying to get her ball.

It had rolled under the small bookcase, and she just couldn't get to it.

She has plenty of other balls, almost identical to that one. (different colors). But that was the one she wanted in that moment. So she scrambled around and barked for someone to help her.

In doing so, she ran past another ball and several toys that just weren't what she wanted.

So I came from the other room, and once I figured out what was going on, I got down and I reached under the bookcase to get the ball.

This is something that happens a couple times a day. She will roll the ball under, and I will go get it. She has me trained.

It got me thinking - what in my own life did I insist upon - when there were plenty of other options that would have been just as good - but *that's* the one I wanted, and I was going to have it regardless of what I would need to do to get it? Who were the people that I knew I could count on to help me out?

How about you? Is there anything you are constantly rolling under the bookcase and who is it that you can count on to help you get them out?

I can't think of anything in particular, but [livejournal.com profile] halfshellvenus might disagree. Fortunately, I can always count on her to rescue me from those situations.

I'm not quite half way through the entries, but I have read many wonderful ones, and I'm looking forward to the rest. I don't know what people's initial reactions to the prompts were, but they seem to have brought out a lot of great writing.

And First!

I agree, I love seeing the different ideas and themes the prompts bring out. and it adds to the fun to realize those kernels came from the participants this season. :)

I really agree with this! The prompts (with the exception of one week I just couldn't sort) have been fantastic! I think it was a great idea to ask for the prompts from the players....but G is still very much "present" in each week's grouping. ;)

I got nothing, but I am totally loving all the wonderful entries this week. Planning on enjoying more of them through the boring bits of the oscars tonight--I'll get lots of reading done! (I only watch for the clothes these days.)

I was having a really hard time reading that many entries! x...x Unfortunately I have a hard time focusing on reading due to my own special brand of mental problems. Anyway, it's a bummer for a person who likes writing to have a hard time with reading! I used to read all the time. How sad to be a person who loved reading and now have such a hard time with it. x...x But I don't mean to complain-- I know we all have our problems and issues.

My point is that although I did manage to get to each entry, I didn't necessarily always have a comment or my comments weren't long and I hope nobody takes that personally. It's like I used all my brain to read your story, but may not have had enough spare change to form words about it. O....o;;;

Did vote for 8 people though! Glad you could vote for so many or I'd have been SOL trying to pick just one!

I also suck at commenting. I don't like to put the equivalent of an "I read this," and don't usually say anything unless I have something to say. :)

Also, my comments or lack of them have no relationship to the likelihood of my voting for the entry. They're two different things to me.

Be glad you're starting during a mini season. There could have been a couple hundred entries to get through. :)

Finished reading. Finished voting. A day early, so go me!

There are probably a million things I stare under the bookcase and bark at. Or, more likely, I stare under the bookcase period. I'm more cat than dog.
