*flips a coin to decide this week's results*
I've heard that works well for important decisions!
***
Before I flip that coin though, I should probably give you a couple more days to get something in! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/889807.html is where contestants link their entries.
The Home Game http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/890493.html is where people who aren't currently contestants link their entries.
The Work Room http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/890041.html is where you bang your head against the wall about your entries
and this space is where you bang your head against the wall in general. Or maybe that's just me!
As usual - any and all changes to teams: additions, subtractions, name changes, etc - need to be in this Thursday by 8pm EST. They should be sent to me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com !

Some really interesting conversations yesterday - both here and elsewhere. The elsewhere ones had nothing to do with Idol, but they were still interesting...
Most of them had to do with the brewing Clinton-Sanders fight. I say "brewing" because although they have faced each other in one state and about to do so in another (where Sanders is heavily favored and Clinton isn't really contesting it) this thing has all the earmarks of something that has a high potential of completely exploding between their supporters.
Given the high level of passion for it, I'll lob it into the Green Room!
- Is it "ageist" to have concerns about how old Bernie Sanders is?
- How much does sexism play in the opposition to Hillary Clinton?
- Once and for all, what's going on with Donald Trump's hair anyway?
- Is Marco Rubio the worst game to play in a swimming pool - or the best?
- Is not liking Ted Cruz discriminatory towards Canadians?
- Was anyone surprised to find out that Mike Huckabee hadn't already dropped out?
- Can JEB overcome the fact that people are calling him by his initials?
- Are people capable of being civilized about the issues that matter to them, and the candidates who represent those ideals - or is it just easier to make jokes about Chris Christie's connections to the foodie mob?
I've heard that works well for important decisions!

Date: 2016-02-03 03:59 pm (UTC)Yes! (I am Canadian, so I have to say that or I'll be arrested in the dead of night and carted off to the mountains, which isn't really that far, and kind of nice actually, but I have to say it.)

Date: 2016-02-03 06:02 pm (UTC)Ted Cruz is not.
He's Canadian enough not to be eligible for the Presidency, in my book, though. Where's that Birther movement now?

Date: 2016-02-03 08:21 pm (UTC)First, he combs an initial Left to Right lair across his balding pate. Then he criss-crosses (will make you jump, jump) it with a front to back lair. Then, finally, the lair we all see is a second right to left lair. It takes real patience, dedication and sacrifice to make your hair do this.
The hair should make you ignore the fact that he's actually a poorly animated golem constructed out of liver pâté and paint chips.

Date: 2016-02-04 02:39 am (UTC)Candidate A is the daughter of a man some call a dictator and others a savior. The distinction, of course, is how much you were personally affected by terrorism in the 90's and whether you had savings in dollars back then.
She's run for presidency before, but this time she's 10 points ahead. Which, of course, here it means that she will lose. Because 'first place' in the polls has never translated to actual victory.
*
Candidate B is a self-proclaimed self-made man, who proudly announced that he 'wasn't one to read'. He admits that the money behind the campaign is mostly his own, but there are accusations that he's using the money from the colleges (yes, colleges) he owns.
Oh, and the final irony? He may - or may not - have plagiarized his doctoral thesis.
The competition is practically drooling on the chance that the university (in Spain) will revoke his doctorate and thuu annul his candidacy.
*
Candidate C is a young business man who every old-school politician is watching crosseyed because he's made himself popular via Facebook (I kid you not). He was doing well until several old interviews popped up where he, at different moments with different audiences, promises different things.
*
Candidate D sunk us all into HUGE national debt and inflation in the 80's, and left us in the middle of what was practically civil war. Our youngest president ever, and I agree with my aunt that he rode that first wave mostly on his looks. Now he rides it on his silver tongue, and damn, but it's a delight to listen to the man! Buy his books. They are simply delicious.
He was actually elected again in 2006 (Again, I kid you not) and he finally finished his projected train across the capital city. (Of course, it was 'across' the city he left back in the 80's, so....)
Note: Candidate D's vice-president to-be is the same lady who's never managed to be elected despite running for presidency seeeeeeeveral times. She and Candidate D have been at odds so many times that it was a shock when they decided to run together.
*
I could speak about the other 15 candidates (yes, FIFTEEN), but truly only 3 of them matter in current politics while the other 12... well, I suppose they were bored this year. *shrug*
