Green Room - Week 6 - Day 1

Sometimes I make a mistake. It's not often. But it happens.

When that occurs, I try to make things right.

This is one of those cases, where I had an email and when the time came to activate the wishes of that email, I overlooked it. In my defense, there were a couple other Idol-related things going on at the time with sacrifices being offered and withdrawn, that I missed the *first* of those sacrifices, one that the contestant wanted to make.

Yes, as soon as I cut someone it's official. But as soon as I reinstate someone it's ALSO official.

What this means is that poppetawoppet and tjoel2 are officially back in the competition!

Normally, they would have to fight it out for that last elimination spot, given that they were tied. But I'm waving that due to the circumstances.

So - goodbye to one and welcome back to two!

I imagine mamas_minion and I threw off some spreadsheets, too. We wrote a sacrifice post, and totally intended on actually sacrificing, so that no one else would have to be eliminated who wanted to stay in when we couldn't hack it anymore, but toward the end of the poll, my husband called my attention to the fact several people were actually voting for us. So he threw in a vote, too, and I figured between that, and the support we were getting, it would be disrespectful not to keep trying.

I'm not guaranteeing we're not going to buy out, and possibly that soon, but I know of at least a couple other people still playing who have lost loved ones recently, and they are still here every week, plugging away like super troopers. It could be inspirational for us, if we chose to let it be. We will do our best.

The sentiments expressed to us from readers were overwhelming, and humbling, and we thank you. We will try to live up to your respect. (And I apologize in advance if we fail.)

I'm glad you've decided to hang in for a bit longer. It's a tough time, but sometimes writing helps. I know when my mom died I wrote a lot, it was cathartic, it also aided in purging a lot of negativity.

I hope that your decision to stay helps you in healing.

I don't actually know if it's cathartic, or if it's just a distraction. It certainly doesn't make the pain hurt any less, or heal any faster... only time will do that. But maybe the distraction helps us to not dwell on it. And as long as it's not getting in the way of our lives, we will continue to try to weather it. But there may yet be a time coming in the not so distant future that it is more than we can juggle, and if/when it does, we'll deal with it then... probably just give our spot to someone who needs it, rather than trying the sacrifice thing again. We appreciate your support.

I want to offer everyone an apology without sounding like "poor me" (or "poor you") or anything like that. It's been eating at me so I'm just going to come out and say it:

My "Void" entry this past week? That's my waking life in a nutshell. Longtime Idolers and Gary already know that my work schedule has always played havoc with Idol. I don't possess whipchick's determination nor resourcefulness to track everybody's entry in whatever window of downtime I have. Heck, I'm lucky if I even get my entry written, never mind reading everybody else's entry, and that includes everyone who's been on my FL for awhile.

I suspect all of us has had this issue, tbh. I suspect it's hitting particularly harder this time around given the low voting scores of late.

I want to thank everybody who's read/voted for me thus far. I truly appreciate it. I have no idea when I'll be able to continually repay you by reading and/or commenting on your entries. I...well, I just wanted to get that out there. Carry on.
