Green Room - Week 5 - Day 3

One of the things that I've heard from people over the last couple years is that they find it difficult to write without Idol.

Which is, of course, how it should be.

After all, Idol is the source of all that is right and good in this life.

However, I know people often to write other things during the course of their life. I'm not sure why, unless it's something about how awesome LJ Idol is so that they can tell all of their friends about it.

But for those people having difficulty writing without Idol, perhaps I should start up a side business of giving them deadlines for tasks and/or kicking them like the dirty foreign hippies that they are.

Sort of an part "coach" and part cyber bully who would just show up to post daily reminders to them that their time to get things done is rapidly approaching.

Like, for instance, "Hey - the deadline for Week 5 entries is Tonight! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/882027.html " followed by a series of kicks to remind folks that I care about them. Because nothing says "love and affection" toward people quite like routinely kicking them. Unless you throw in the insulting them and perhaps some laughing and/or pointing.

Today is my only day off this week. Except for that blank space between when The Boyz have dinner and bedtime I haven't had more than an hour or two for myself. It's exhausting and it tend to make me cranky :(

I think the novel draft I just finished is the only time I've ever written something without an externally imposed deadline. (Of course, it started its life as a serial story written in part during Idol. So maybe that doesn't count, either.). (Please don't kick me!)

We actually had a guy in Sacramento who made a business of that, as a personal trainer. I think he was a former Marine and a Tae Bo expert, and he would cover a broad range of fitness training. But if you wanted it, he would also call you up on the phone and harangue you until you got your butt out of bed or off the sofa and did your workouts. Some people hired him just for that extra abuse service. ;)

I'll tell you what, I've been having time to write, but I've not checked my WoW garrisons for a week and I still have a fifth character to level there.

I've had to make some hard choices.

Also, I gave up sleep to read everything this week.

Well, whenever I want to write, I just go to a random day at comment_fic and look for lonely prompts. Of course, I do like writing short stories, so that site is perfect for me.

If I ever committed to a longer story, I'd probably sign up for your program - kicking or not. :P
