http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/880185.html and http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/880602.html is where the action is today! The polls are closing tonight!

Which brings up that usual question of:

What have been some of your favorites this week?

More importantly: What have you loved that hasn't (in your opinion) gotten the love it deserves?

People tend to be busy, maybe they haven't checked it out yet... and they are just waiting for you to point them in that direction!

The GR so nice, Gary posted it twice. ;)

The Geek Squad reallllly knocked it out of the park this week. Special shout out to both [livejournal.com profile] encrefloue and [livejournal.com profile] barrelofrain who wrote, composed, and recorded songs for this week!

"We are the Geek Squad and we're coming to town. (Beep beep) Fashion!"

I'm sorry... channeled some Bowie there... excuse me (siddles out of the room)...

(It's quiet... too quiet...)

Other neat stuff to check out, just from the individuals:

[livejournal.com profile] fodschwazzle brings the weird, as usual, and in a very enjoyable way.

[livejournal.com profile] porn_this_way gave me a new show to binge watch.

[livejournal.com profile] the_lettersea stepped up to the plate and wrote an entry entirely in footnotes (and it works!).

[livejournal.com profile] thistle_verse does some really great thoughtful analysis of a classic and its intersection with her life.

[livejournal.com profile] yachiru wrote an awesome poem this week.

(Second time posting's the charm???)

I strongly recommend [livejournal.com profile] bookishgeek's entry. (http://bookishgeek.livejournal.com/265208.html) It's not only a unique take on the prompt, it's beautifully written as well.

I was thinking the deadline was yesterday at 9 p.m.! At least now I might have time to go back and add more comments.

I'm just really proud of my team this week: [livejournal.com profile] bookishgeek turned a movie review into a personal memoir about a relationship; [livejournal.com profile] encrefloue wrote a beautifully whimsical song about the romance between a penny and a dollar bill; and [livejournal.com profile] tonithegreat wrote an hilarious believable fiction piece about hikers trying to shake a rabid fan of "Star Wars" episodes 1 through 3.

Kudos also for those who took real risks this week, such as [livejournal.com profile] leni_ba for creating a tongue-in-cheek game about terrorism and [livejournal.com profile] barrelofrain, who also wrote and performed a song.

I really do applaud the team this week! I love how the three of you used the same prompt and ended up in such striking and intimate places. All were a joy to read--bravo!

Thanks! I am sure anyone would have thought we'd planned it out, but it was just serendipity. And your song of love gone wrong works as a companion piece with bookishgeek.

It would be quite interesting if one of these weeks, we truly planned for all of our entries to be interconnected companion pieces. Would perhaps be too much of a strain given the already speedy deadlines, but one can imagine!

It would be difficult, given my weird schedule, though I don't oppose the idea.

I haven't made a formal rec list this week, mostly because I've been stupid-busy lately (DO ALL THE THINGS o lord), but some that stood out to me:

[livejournal.com profile] rayaso's piece about a "bad penny" comes immediately to mind. So does [livejournal.com profile] reckless_blues's, which I don't want to spoil at all...

and [livejournal.com profile] lrig_rorrim and [livejournal.com profile] orockthro hardly need my recommendations, but both of their pieces were amazing. :D

From: [identity profile] lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com
Aww, thank you! Rayaso and Reckless_blues's entries were also neat! As was yours! (There were a lot of neat entries this week. I have to grudgingly admit that the more challenging prompts really pushed us all to excel.)

I'd like the official record to state that I sent in topics that I wouldn't mind writing, which were pretty clear and not weird scientific terms (well. one of them could be seen that way, but it's used outside of science, too, so WHATEVER).

I'm not evil.

I hope you reading this weren't, either. :P

From: [identity profile] anyonesghost.livejournal.com
Nope, I'll go on record and say I was a real jerk about it. ;-) Which means that irony dictates I'll be booted on one of my own topics.

Date: 2016-01-12 08:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kickthehobbit.livejournal.com
Oh, FEH. :P

How evil are we talking? Incredibly specific and difficult to write to, or something that forces your hand and makes you only write fiction/nonfiction/poetry?

...God help me, if you prompted us with "write a limerick" or something like that, I will track you down and throw a pie at you. :P

Date: 2016-01-13 12:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anyonesghost.livejournal.com
I didn't go quite that far. Which is lucky for most, since I probably would have gone for something like "Write a Shakespearean (not a Petrarchan) sonnet about something that happened to you specifically in 2015. And don't forget the epigrammatic turn at the end."

Speaking of which: hey Gary, if you need another prompt ...

Oh! My favorite this week that wasn't sung!

[livejournal.com profile] rayaso's coin noir (http://rayaso.livejournal.com/15499.html). Read it. Memorize it. Vote for it. Build an animation studio to make it a weekly Adult Swim cartoon.

I'm sad to say that I didn't get to comment on everything, but I did get to read and vote on everything this week. I'll try to catch up with my errant comments. Sorry Friends Poll people! I spent so much time reading about Bowie that I lost time to comment.
