The longest "week" of the season continues!

Make sure to get your votes in: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/876790.html I only have a couple right now and I'd rather space them out than get them all at once! Then again, I also want you to read everything (and comment on the entries) so get them in when you can.

***

It's the last day of 2015. Which means that all you are doing is checking out "Best and Worse of 2015 lists".

So what were the best and worst things in your own life in 2015?

What do you want to see happen in 2016?

What I want to see happen is not likely, but I will cross my fingers !!!

The best thing was getting a new job in June!

The worse thing was when my daughters' biological Dad passed away a few weeks ago.

Even with that awful ending, it was still a MUCH better year than 2014.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Dan

.
worst and best were both rather selfish
.
losing a vacation train trip because my mother got sick
.
finishing my first feature length motion picture and meeting the deadline to submit it to a film festival
.

Congrats on that, for sure. Amateur filmmaker here, and I know what it takes to pull a piece together. My first film (which was not full length) was submitted to a couple of festivals, and recognized by both. The second won me a credit on IMDB, which I'm very pleased about. Good for you! I think it's okay to be a little selfish when it comes to protecting your interests, especially in the form of your talents. And I suspect anyone can understand the mixed emotions and disappointment that comes from having to make sacrifices to care for ailing loved ones. I'm actually going through that right now, and it's a tough row to how, so I feel ya there.

Reading and voting is going fairly slowly this week, I'm guessing, based on the comments I've seen on entries... I haven't had time to comment myself, because we're dealing with a health crisis in our house, but I will try to make time to before the voting is over. Could be all the number of byes, too... some people don't read on weeks they don't write.

On the offchance that it's slow because of the hassle of poring through the topic thread link by link, if you missed it the last time I posted a notice to the green room, I've compiled them all for our use in one spot and created a post you can find here:

I don't suppose you know if anyone is keeping a list of who wrote on what topics?

I was thinking about that too. Or a tally anyway.

That's definitely a level of detail I have not bothered to compile data on at this point. I know in main seasons, Gary often revisits topics where there are multiple options, but I'm not expecting that this time around, since each contestant provided 3 options, and there are under 100 contestants, and (I would hope) well under 300 weeks. I suspect he wants everyone to be able to see their topic selections being used, and that can't happen if he continues to reuse the same ones. Plus, often that's done when there is partnering involved, and we already have teams, so I'm not sure if partnering is going to play into this season or not. But, if it should become necessary to have that much information, I would probably be the one to go back and collect it.

I would definitely have to say that the best moments of my life have come to me in 2015. Realizing that the man I loved well enough to make a lifetime commitment felt the same — and was willing to say so, when he asked me to marry him — was definitely a memory for the ages, especially after turning down 9 others... I guess, for me, the 10th is the charm? And when we did in fact, both say so to one another, before the witnesses of our family and friends... that was a moment that surely tops the list.

I pretty much spent my whole year either "getting married," or "recovering" from getting married, ever since. I think once the dust finally clears, 2015 will probably have pretty much been a blur for most of it, but for a few special highlights I will never forget. And as for the worst, well, I guess I'm just too much of an optimist to dwell on that stuff.

Looking forward to a bright New Year.

Worst thing, my mother in law falling spending 115 days in rehab - best thing -finding her an assisted living apartment for special needs that is both beautiful- and she likes.

More time with my kids and grandson 2016

Best: my job and writing plus we all stayed well
Also visited my sisters in Portland.

Worst: my mom fell twice, ( seriously injured) and my birth father got super-sick and died.

In the meantime...

I think my personal highlight was fist-bumping a kitten at a cat cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo. Finishing my current novel is up there too, but this is the fifth one I've finished drafting (out of 10 started), so it's not quite as new and shiny of a feeling. Looking forward to finishing that one (and #10) and starting the query letters to shop them this year.

I'm a little wary of 2016, if just because 2015 went really well for me. The universe balances these things out. But I can't predict the future, so I can just say I'm going to continue to work hard on all things and try to improve myself and the world around me.
