Yesterday I saw "It's a Wonderful Life" for the first time.

Yes, the first time.

No idea why I hadn't seen it before.

Which is why I spent the rest of the day checking links to see how many articles there were about wanting to go to the track with Mary Hatch Bailey. Anything she wants - she gets!  You could make a lot of money hanging around her!

The Bernie Sanders campaign "accidentally" gained access to next week's topics and we had to ban them. But they were just "showing us the weakness in security" and not actually illegally accessing data, so that's OK.  In the meantime though, we've restricted their access to this week's topic thread.

So please don't share it with any of them! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/874412.html

If you want to discuss any of those topics, and/or "What the hell?" there is a Work Room up as well: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/874592.html

What have you never seen that you "should"?

Btw - I spoke to Steve Harvey and he told me that all of you are the new Miss Universe! Congratulations!

They should be able to be reduced to icons.

Did you notice Bert and Ernie in It's a Wonderful Life? I've never heard it confirmed, but the characters are too close for me to believe it's not a coincidence. :)

The first time my childhood best friend and I watched It's a Wonderful Life, we noticed Bert and Ernie. We were so thrilled, and decided we'd discovered the secret origins of the Sesame Street Characters. All through highschool, we called each other Bert and Ernie (I was Ernie, she was Bert) because we were so pleased with ourselves over that singular moment. Lesson: uh, nicknames are weird. Heh.

I'm planning a big, long, Victorian Christmas entry this time. Might use my witches from Week 1 in it, since people wanted more of them! Super excited to get started on it.

And I always get Its a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story mixed up, somehow.

Pffft. If it makes you feel any better, I haven't seen that movie either. I'll watch it if and when Rifftrax takes a go at it.

There's a bunch of movies I haven't seen, like Jaws or most of the James Bond films. When my friends found out some years ago I hadn't seen any of them, they decided I should watch them in order (except one that apparently everyone hates, I don't have to watch that one). I hadn't gotten around to it until the last year or so, so I've watched the first 2 James Bonds and laughed my way through them. And was angry at the casual misogyny and general weirdness. So I don't know if I'm going to bother with them at all anymore.

I've never seen "It's a Wonderful Life" from start to finish either, I'm ashamed to say. At least we did get to the new Star Wars movie last night...Oh, and I LOVED the Big Bang Theory's related episode last week!

I can't think of two many movies I haven't seen that are considered classics, because I'm a bit of a film geek. There are some that keep being mentioned that I feel I ought to see, such as "The Red Balloon" (1956). Maybe I'll see if the library has it.

This morning, I finally watched "Boyhood." Worth the wait. I love Richard Linklater. He's one of the filmmakers I'd love to just sit and talk to, because I love how his mind works. Him and Paul Thomas Anderson. And Paul Feig.

I've still never seen Casablanca. Every time I admit this I feel like I should duck, lest someone throw something at me.

I would never throw anything at you.

Casablanca is one of my all-time favorite films. The fact that it came out the way it did with an unfinished script makes it even more extraordinary thanks to its director and cast.

I've never seen myself as someone worth knowing, much less being friends with. I really should do something about that...

ok, i exaggerate a bit, as i can't actually say that i've *never* seen myself in that fashion... but all things considered it doesn't happen anywhere near as often as it should.

You've got plenty of friends here! (Passes cookies - swiped them from the Overlord, enjoy some?)
We are a melting pot of strange, creative minds. You're a crucial part of the brew, man!

I've seen It's A Wonderful Life maybe...oh, who knows how many times. It's always been one of those movies that'd be on for background noise more than anything else. I've never cared for it. If I'm going to watch a Christmas-themed movie I'll watch the George C. Scott rendition of A Christmas Carol, which IMO surpasses the Alistair Sim version.

You would have a battle with my hubby ob that! He swears by the Allistair Sim version.

Favorite Christmas classic move - The Bishop's Wife w/Cary Grant, David Niven... oh the dialogue then...
