Voting - Week 1 - Individuals

Welcome to Week 1 of LJ Idol: Friends and Rivals!

As you may know - this mini-season is a little bit different in that there are options to “play as teams” as well as playing as individuals.

LJ, being LJ, decided that (for space), that I needed to separate the polls. So I am cutting this message and pasting it in both posts. :)

Make sure you go over and check out the other one though - because what you are seeing here is only half of the goodness that awaits!

No real spiel this time around - other than to say that with the Teams, the scores of each group will be averaged and the team with the lowest score will be losing the member with the fewest votes.

For the individuals, it’s just the person with the entry receiving the fewest votes.

(Translation: We will be losing two contestants this week)

So make sure to read, comment and vote for your favorites! It’s the only way you can guarantee that you will get to see more of them in the weeks to come!

The poll will be closing Thursday, December 10th at 10pm EST

Hell. I didn't mean to take a bye - part of my issue is that I don't frequent LJ often and suddenly I'm not getting any notifications like I used to. Guess I'm going to be plugging reminders into my Google calendar. :/

I refused to let myself take a Bye this week, but damn it took forever to get something written. I wanted to remain positive due to the high negativity I am seeing in the world. I finally got it, but yeah.

I'm finding that on certain journals that when I leave a comment and embed a song, I get marked as spam. Is embedding video socially frowned upon? If so, I'll start using links exclusively instead.

For myself, I'd rather have the video embedded because its one less click, but I'm lazy as all get out. :D

When I'm at home I pay by the gb for internet. Where I am now I'm on a borrowed laptop with an iffy video card.

Beyond that, I'm just not a music video person, so I'd rather save myself from excess graphics when possible.

I don't think we have any standing social morays against prog_shlock--rather, I think you are the ghost within the system. Is it possible you could be marked as spam without direct intervention from the user you are commenting on?

I've learned a bunch about this this week. LJ automatically filters unpaid users and users who post links as Spam - because the most frequent type of LJ Spam comes from unpaid users who post links to creepy sites (http://therealljidol.livejournal.com).

I paid for my account about five days ago and I've not had a problem with being marked as spam since.

Yes, but I had the page open for a very long time while I went back and forth through the entries. I won't be doing that next time. :-)

This is why a lot of old timers suggest using a spreadsheet or making a list of your votes. LJ polls are hungry monsters and will eat your votes.

Thank you! I joined lj_idol just as season 9 was racing toward the finish line, and I used to keep a list of those I was voting for and refer to it. I think I may have to do that again. Life w/o tech problems would be...so nice! 🙌

It's *not* showing your votes as having been submitted. (Just checked, since that's definitely happened before - someone didn't think it went, but it did)
