How was your weekend? Is this a "short week" for you (Americans) or do you have to work the entire week (damn foreigners) or are you part of some splinter-turkey rescue group and this is the busiest season of all for you?

Just checking in to say that I doubt I will have a chance to read through everyone's introductions, though it will be my preferred way to spend my free time, what little I have right now.

Today will be spent running errands and packing in preparation for returning to my hometown, after a sanity break to attend Philcon, where I was on five panels.

Tomorrow we are driving back home, and I need to take care of some legal things regarding the estate. We will also be going through materials for my mother's memorial. The memorial is Wednesday.

Then comes the most dreaded Thanksgiving ever experienced by my family. I only hope that being together gives us all some comfort.

Short week for me since I'm off today, work Tuesday & Wednesday then off for the holidays. We have a 17 lb turkey that hopefully my housemate has moved from the freezer to the fridge, and she will be making a smoked ham as well, so there will be tons of leftovers at House of Ro if anyone is in the vicinity, lol!

We have an open house today here at my office. 2 and a half years ago we had a major flood and a good portion of the space had to be completely rebuilt. So now that the huge project is completed we are showing off for funders and other "important" people! So I must be on my best behavior which is difficult!

We have a short week this week and then I'm off until next Thursday!

Weekend was rough. This week promises to be hectic, but we've pushed Thanksgiving to Friday because we have that superpower...and that gives us an extra day. Although we are hearing SNOW!!

Still wondering about the team aspect. Not for Idol, perhaps, but I think it would be very cool to have a competition with teams and no eliminations but a point system. The Real LJ Olympics. Or some such. Or is that Beer Pong Olympics...

My job is production-based. Each reporting period is two weeks long.

Friday, I finished all the work I had to do for the current period, which means I am spending today-wednesday on the work I have for next week.

I expect I'll finish... and then be even more bored next week.

I have non-work stuff I could do, but the office frowns on "reporting time" that is spent doing non-office work. Go figure.

Technically an extra-short week for me, as I took today off from work because my left hip is hurting me something fierce and I am trying to get some "bed rest".

I am off Thursday but scheduled to work Friday. I am also scheduled to attend two dinners and a wedding -- the big family gathering is on Saturday, but one of my sister is holding a smaller dinner on Thursday, and a co-worker's daughter is getting married on Sunday. Busy times...

I'm trying to get through all the introductions and may have stalled out, but there's time yet.

I work on Thanksgiving, but I work from home, and the last few years my supervisor has let us shift our hours around to accommodate family dinner time. This year we have a new supervisor, there has been no mention of that option yet, so I guess I'm gonna throw one more email into the oblivion that is her inbox (she hasn't returned my last 4 emails).

Plus it's about to dump snow, not sure how much, so I doubt my gentleman caller can get over the mountain passes to partake of the turkey.

Either way, though, best case or worst case, I'll still end up eating more food in one sitting than some people see in a week (or more), so I can't complain much if it's not exactly how I'd want it to be.

The short week is that most office jobs close Thursday and Friday. Most retail businesses are open *longer* hours - hence a long week. :)

Those who don't work in either world fall somewhere in between how long or short of a week it will be. As usual.

I work through at least half Wednesday.

So far things are okay. I won NaNoWriMo last night, and woke up this morning to an email in my inbox asking if I'd be all right going to DC on business in February. So that's...a thing. Mostly positive, still gonna be a little weird (boss has multiple options, he picked me, I know one of my coworkers is going to say that I was the one picked because I'm a woman and it's an NSF event where we need to show "diversity", never mind that I'm the team lead for this project and have designed all the experiments, so that'll be...rad), I'm looking forward to the break.

Thanksgiving plans include skipping it as I have for the last three years followed by noveling followed by plentiful Skyrim followed by cursing the name of the person who scheduled me to work by myself for half of The Day From Hell.

This being Pie Hell Week, I ordinarily do back-to-back overnights tonight into tomorrow and tomorrow into Wednesday. That's now off the table...I suspect it's because Current Employer doesn't want to pay out the differential and whatever OT there will be (and there will be because there always is). Instead I start both days around 2-3AM. Whee!

After I get out Wednesday we're heading down to my BIL's to drop off some goodies. We spend Thanksgiving with my extended family. It'll be bittersweet since my mom's BFF is moving down to FL permanently and I don't know when/if I'll see her again.

Strange things are afoot in the Prog_Schlock world. Thanksgiving promises to approach an epic level of awkwardness. We usually go over to the wife's sister's place. This year, in the period of six months, she divorced her husband (who we all adored) and moved in with her boss/lover. None of us have met him. That's where we're going for Thanksgiving. Fear. Fear for the awkwardness. I'll definitely be bringing the Adele for this holiday.

It starts Week 1. You will have until 24 hours before the deadline for week 1 to declare your groups. I will post more information on that as we get closer to Week 1. (There's a way for it to happen that will be easier for everyone. Which of course means over half of Idol is going to ignore it. :P)
