I know I keep mentioning that, but I do it because it's important! Originally I was thinking 100-120 people would make this twist to the game work. Which means the floor on that is 100. *Could* it work with fewer? Maybe. But let's not find out!

I know that "LJ isn't what it used to be", but I also know that LJ Idol is worth people coming back to Livejournal!  I'd think that even if I wasn't the one in charge. :)

We have had some fantastic new entries into the fray over the past couple of days! We've gone from needing "40-something more people" to "20-something".  (there are a couple people who have paid and sent in their topics, but haven't posted a declaration yet!!!) So hopefully we can have that aspect locked down before Thanksgiving and be able to start strong on December 1st!

Nothing is pissing me off in my corner this morning, but yesterday, man...

Yeah. Yesterday was a bad day. And I'm glad that so far I haven't received another phone call home from my child's school.

Right now I am too busy enjoying actually building a world together with a good friend. :) I am bad at the actual worldbuilding part of writing, hah.

LJ is what you make it. It's just kind of disappointing to see some people only use it for Idol, and even more so to see others leave in favour of that Facebook drivel.

Hmm. As for the news, nothing moved my internet friends to strongly react recently, that's all the good new I need.

I only ever left LJ because so many others have abandoned it.

I was getting like no comments ever from usually having regular correspondence.

Facebook seems to be dying now too (at least for me)... Twitter seems to be the one spot I get traction.

On blogging sites, next to none. I have to regularly look for "fresh meat" to solve this problem, and sometimes find someone how stays and keeps going.

I agree that Twitter is livelier, but in my experience it does not let you to get to know people like LJ does. It's shallower.

I've never really thought of lj as "sharing thought with the world". Sometimes I engage with my friends list—I went ahead and asked everyone to give me a prompt a day for the month of November, for instance, and I'm writing stories for each prompt I was given—but it's always been something I've done for myself, because I wanted to, and I think that's worked well for me.

That's why I stick around, anyway. :)

Well, my main reason was to be able to engage and share thoughts and get reactions and vent.

Weirdly enough, I keep a lot of it under private lock. So it does end up being just for me. :)

I've moved a lot the last few years, and having a space that is not going to go anywhere is part of the appeal. But to each their own!

I'm not pissed off by anything today, and I'm hoping it stays that way. :) I'm pretty lucky to have a lot of great people on my different friends lists that don't post reprehensible shit. I also don't read comment sections anywhere other than lj/The Toast (where they are heavily moderated), so that helps a lot, too. Lots of thoughtful discussion about current events, no racism or Islamophobia. I'm really happy about that.

I don't have a no tolerance policy for it, and I don't stop talking to people over posting stuff I don't agree with. But if we have a conversation about it and I discover that there's a fundamental disagreement, or they continue to post stuff reprehensible...I don't want anyone in my life that doesn't respect me or my family, and posting a lot of racist drivel tells me they don't.

The one and only time I reneged on this was with someone I didn't want to lose contact with, and they very quickly showed that I'd made the wrong choice in letting them back in (yay, speculation about how my family must have come here illegally, or I wouldn't be so sensitive about it!). So nowadays I just defriend and get on with my life, because it's too short to spend pissed off at content I can control seeing.

I know the world is full of problems. I'm not blind to that. But I don't need to be "friends" with terrible people.

My boyfriend got to see Mockingjay Part 2 during a special screening his company was invited to last night and I am jealous and BITTER, especially because I'M the one who got him into THGs in the first place!

A student sneezed on me this morning and I have been bathing in sanitizer all day.

My workday is done, Friday is a light work day for me, and I'm getting ceviche for dinner tonight. The best part, though?

I have the entry for Week 0 to write tonight, AND NaNo, which I'm hilariously behind on but still have hope of pulling off a win... somehow. And. AND. I found an online publishing house that is looking for a story for an anthology that I could write. Have started writing, for another anthology. Now I just need to finish that stinker.

Today has been mostly a good news day, so I'm not terribly pissed about anything yet.

We received an offer on the house we put on the market a week ago, and after the dancing involved, it looks like we will enter escrow soon.

Oh, and it's my birthday, so I've been recruiting after a two month hiatus from Facebook. ^_^
