Results - Week 41
Mar. 16th, 2015 09:40 pmI was recently reminded of an old conversation that I had in Idol, where it was pointed out that the more I like someone, the more likely I am to "celebrate" their elimination and/or mock them.
If that is true, then I *really* should be mocking this week's boot, because I like her, and her work, a whole lot.
So insert a bunch of snarky things here as a placeholder until I can think of some good ones.
This week's results were influenced by the final Jury decision - giving
suesniffsglue immunity. Which means she is safe from the vote and now in the Top 4.
Which means the person with the next fewest votes will be leaving us.
This is the second time I've had to do this, and really it doesn't get any easier. Last time she was eliminated this season, the Spirit of LJ Idol, Season 9
kickthehobbit used her power to bring her back into the game.
Unfortunately, no such twist is in play. Which means, this time, it's for good.
And damnit, I really need something snarky to say here. Because it really sucks to be losing her. But she co-won Exhibit B, and she definitely won over a lot of hearts this season.
So that's something - and hell, she got to the Top 5! AFTER COMING BACK INTO THE GAME! (which, I mention again because I know that's something people like to talk about.)
lrig_rorrim, I won't be missing you at all. I will be annoying the shit out of you now that I can treat you as a former winner instead of a contestant. :)
But I *will* be missing your entries. So I hope we will see them in the Home Game!

Here's to one hell of a run, though!

Date: 2015-03-17 01:51 am (UTC)I have had a lot of fun this season, and written SO MANY THINGS (http://cislyn.livejournal.com/596121.html), oh my gosh (which reminds me, I need to go update that table. Heh). I've also made some incredible friends over this past year - if you even suspect a little tiny bit you might be on that list, well, you are. I am in awe of and really appreciative of all the support I've gotten on this wordy journey. Whether it's been brainstorming sessions, cheerleading me on when I've been in a slump, writing with me, reading my stuff and telling me when it sucks and when it doesn't, intersecting with me, putting up with me ducking out to write, or otherwise talking and thinking about stories and prompts and polls, or any of a dozen other things - I have had so much support from so many people, and I am incredibly grateful for it. My sweetie Todd,
Gary's right in that you won't be missing me, because I'll still be around. Writing at a much slower, more relaxed pace for a while, no doubt, but still around. And I wish all the best of luck to the final four! :D

Seriously, though: I'm glad I met you. I've never once regretted bringing you back into the competition, and I'm glad that it meant that we got more writing out of you.

Date: 2015-03-17 02:44 pm (UTC)I'm really glad I met you, too, and also grateful you don't have regrets. I... was worried a bit that I was letting you down by not making it further. I have silly worries sometimes.

Date: 2015-03-17 02:50 pm (UTC)Though honestly, for a while, I'm going to be just resting and recuperating. My idea file is completely blank. I've written every single idea I've had stored up, and I need to refill those creative tanks for a while. It's been a looooong journey! I'm really looking forward to seeing the finale!

One of the things she said to me, when I told her what I was planning to do, was that she didn't want me to bring her and sacrifice my own chance at winning. What if I regretted it, or what if something else happened?
And I told her: if I get more writing from you, that'll make me happy.
You're a hell of a friend and a hell of a writer, and here's to the next thing!

Date: 2015-03-17 03:04 pm (UTC)This is a rule that, though it apparently benefited you, was nothing to do with you at the same time. You got where you are, week after week, without that immunity. That is a helluva feat. And I'm convinced that the reason your vote totals were lower than mine (and not by much, either!) is because it was known that you had it this week. Don't worry about it - it was out of your control, and though there were a lot of things you could have done with an immunity (including write something super lousy that was just a placeholder entry), instead you wrote something creative and challenging.
It's been a pleasure writing with you, too! Good luck in the trial by fire that's coming up. *grins*
