I was seriously impressed with how well Madonna took that fall. Jumping up straight away after a fall is something most of us do...not always a good idea, but she seemed okay. She is in amazing shape. A friend of mine fell off stage during a show a few months back, broke a leg, finished the show, and went into surgery. And is still recuperating.

Nothing funny about any of that despite what tumblr thinks.

Yeah, if I took a fall like that, I doubt that I would be able to finish the show. It would probably be straight to surgery.

I used to work as a grader for the essay portion of standardized tests - all ages, all occasions. One of the big tests we did was one which was required for high school graduation in some state or another, and the essay that year was "describe the funniest thing that's ever happened to you."

The funniest thing that has ever happened to most high school seniors, evidently, is seeing someone else trip, fall, or otherwise end up on their ass. Every once in a great while, there'd be an essay about the student themselves doing so and how hilarious it was, but mostly? Other folks going thump is just the height of comedy.

Lemme tell ya, it really made me appreciate those students who had, if not a good sense of humor, at least a unique one. There's only so many times I can hear about how that girl tripped in the cafeteria and her food went flying and oh my gosh I laughed and laughed. Siiiiiiiigh.

I agree. Nothing funny about it. I fear an awful lot of people have a different opinion on the matter, though.

I can well imagine. Physical prat stuff is hysterical to that age group. I have to admit that I accepted a bet for my own high school graduation ceremony and tripped to the nearest edge of falling while crossing the stage to accept my diploma. I made a lot of money. The crowd gasped and the only laughter...however, was from my group of misfit friends in the cheap seats.

The principal did accost me immediately after the proceedings. And was not amused. Whatsoever.
