Green Room - Week 37 - Weekend Edition
Feb. 14th, 2015 01:44 pmHappy Valentines Day Idol!
What is it that you *love*? Not just entries, although we do have a poll going on right now, so go ahead and talk about those as well: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/837688.html
But what is it that sparks your passion and invokes the Hallmark cards of your soul?
***
I've been asked to share something, but it's kind of weird because I've also been asked not to say who it is for, so if you happen to be on their friends list and know, don't say it out-loud. So it's one of those blind box things for "a friend of a friend" who needs some help to start a new life: http://www.gofundme.com/tofinallylive
Maybe if people have suggestions for other ways to help, they can give them.

What are YOU doing for Valentines Day?
I'm going to go out an massacre some people! That's how you are supposed to celebrate "the holiday", right?

Date: 2015-02-14 07:56 pm (UTC)There's a lot of people I love. They know who they are. :)
If we're talking like, things that aren't people, though—music. There are bands and songs I will basically always love, and they are more important to me than almost anything else. Right now I'm super-keen on The National (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S97xQKZDV_4), because their lyrics seem to speak right to me (poss. because I am MADE OF SADNESS, as one of my friends postulated once upon a time :) ). I've seen them live twice and while both experiences were sort of weird (once was in the middle of a fucking downpour—outdoor concerts where it's "rain or shine" for the win?—and the other after driving for three hours, getting horribly lost, then having to take Highway 34 back from Bend in the pitch-dark and very nearly driving us off a cliff), they're still two of the best shows I've ever seen, period, and two of my favorite experiences. I lovelovelove music, almost all of my disposable income goes to seeing shows, and...yeah. :)
I also love poetry but that feels weirdly personal (http://kickthehobbit.livejournal.com/578567.html).
As far as what I'm doing for VDay—making a fancy dinner!
...we don't really celebrate it, in our house. I just use it as an excuse to tell people I love 'em. :)

Date: 2015-02-15 06:01 am (UTC)The National is always a wintery sort of band for me. I don't really listen to 'em once summer hits. Then it's all terrible synthpop. :)

Date: 2015-02-14 09:55 pm (UTC)I left work at 7am, and am going back to it at 7pm. My valentine (the dog) is asleep on the floor, but I think she'll get a nice walk and dinner before I leave for work.
My other valentine (me) bought me a lovely surprise gift (a new 40" TV) but I won't get it for a few days since it's "on order". I wonder what it is!

Date: 2015-02-15 03:52 am (UTC)"Happy Valentine's Day to my true love. You're big and strong, and I learn more about you every day. You only let me down when I forget to oil your bits, and I love to blow you.
And Happy Valentine's to my husband, too ;)"

Me, a few months ago ^
On Valentine's Day I signed my kids up for music school - the twins just in pre-instrumental (they're five), but my ten-year-old is mad keen for violin. Makes me so happy that he's interested!
And then I went for my first-ever tuba lesson, after seven years of playing (though I took at 2 year break with the twins).
It was a good day :)
