The next time someone tells you that something is impossible - remind them that Charles Manson is engaged.

If that can happen, there is hope for the rest of us to accomplish anything.

Either that, or it's proof that the world is beyond redemption and we are all doomed!

It's one of those.

***

While you are pondering which one, keep in mind that the DEADLINE to get your entries in is TONIGHT: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/805095.html

I repeat that - TONIGHT.

I repeat it because, judging from the last couple times I've said it, there will be someone who will post to this thread saying "When is the deadline?" or "I thought it was tomorrow"... ;)

It's Tonight.

If you have posted, excellent! If you haven't - http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/806189.html (there is also a Work Room to figure out any problems you having: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/805341.html)

If you want to Home Game it, or discuss the Home Game entries giving constructive criticism via the Killing Floor, there's a place to do that! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/805793.html

What are YOUR moments that either give you hope or convince you that we are doomed?

The fact that this GR has gone at least like, an hour without a fucking comment points to the end of the world, for me.

Also, first. :D

I did! Because I saw the post go up and then I kinda just sat here and stared at my screen for a good 50 minutes. y child threw up yesterday and I am playing the, "Is he going to throw up again?" waiting game.

This is on top of debating whether I should let him go to school (he loves school and seems fine, other than the one instance of puke yesterday), has no fever, etc. But it is also cold as shit outside AND I am functioning on a 1.25 hour nap plus another 1.5 hour nap before working 8 hours (last night) busting my butt...

Don't ask me how I can type sentences right now because I don't even know, okay? lol

Yeah, I saw the same thing. I just returned here to see if anyone had posted anything, and if nobody had, I was going to yell FRIST! But since I'm not, I won't :p

I was like hmmm has anyone commented yet.....

NOPE.

MUAHAHAHAHA FIRST FOR ME.

Also it's sad that I have the energy to comment here but not make a million inane FB posts like I did yesterday.

I am still mad at myself that I left my caffeine at home last night and that I had to drink *shivers* SODA at work... I've found it's way too sweet for me, now. But I have a hard time with coffee, too, and well... Yeah.

C'mon Bob's bus. Nap-time/bed time is so close. SO CLOSE.

So you don't like soda or coffee... what's your caffeine of choice?

Date: 2014-11-19 01:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] theun4givables.livejournal.com
I used to like soda but cut it out of my diet a few months ago -- and apparently my body is all like NOPE. TOO SWEET.

I usually drink tea. :) I occasionally indulge in a Monster Java, which is a french vanilla cappuccino flavored energy drink thing, but that's rare (they're expensive and my store doesn't sell them). I "like" coffee in the sense that it needs to be doctored up a lot. Which is too much work for me sometimes. xD

Hopefully you are sleeping as I type this, with a child all snug at school and you all snug in a bed.

Shhhhh....

:D

I was, but I am still tired today. Woke up at 10:15 to write for NaNo (I'm so woefully behind, sigh) and get ready for work. Tonight is the last night of an 8 day stretch. The child goes to my ex's house, though, at 6pm. :) So I'll get some sleep.

I hear you on the lack of sleep! I was up until 3:00 AM posting my entry, and I sort of overslept my alarm by about an hour, which means I got maybe just over 5 hours of sleep, which isn't horrid but isn't all that great either. And I have bowling league tonight, so we'll see how THAT goes...

There will be a Starbucks beverage in my near future...

"Just over 5 hours of sleep," is an average/good night for me. :) Half that is when I start to feel it (which is more than what I got, total, Monday).

Monster Javas saved me Monday afternoon. I forgot the second one at home when I went to work, Monday night.

New WoW expansion came out last Thursday, and I have this week off work for the express purpose of binging on it.

Can't talk, must play!

lol I remember WoW. I think I quit when level 70 was the highest you could go...

I now no longer own a computer that can play it, which is probably for the best. :)

I bowled my first turkey in a long time last week, and that gives me hope! Since my bowling average is around 118-120, I don't get very many turkeys! The occasional double, sure, but there's extra pressure to get that third strike in a row, so more often than not I flub it.

I was up until 3:00 AM getting my entry finished and posted, since I can't update my LJ from wrk and I have bowling directly afterwards. Sleep is for the weak, lol!

Congratulations!

I think I've bowled a turkey once, and if I remember correctly I didn't get another strike or spare for the rest of the game, which took a little of the shine off.

I think in November the bowling alley should give you a turkey (bird) if you bowl a turkey (strikes).

Would encourage me to try -- my bowling score is like a golf score and versa vice.

I should write a piece called "One Handed Life". But considering it took me over an hour to fold a small load of laundry last night, and how I now can't type for very long, maybe I should forget it :p

I have posted in the home game thread, and now I'm pondering my fantasy football team for next week (my wide receivers have been sub-par all season).

The fact that we have rain in the forecast for 3 out of the next 4 days gives me hope, not only do I need it to be grey and damp occasionally for my mental health, but oof we can use the wet.

I'm gonna have to come clean on something.

For crappy IRL reasons, it's going to be exceedingly hard to get an entry in this week, but I don't feel ready to go out just yet. Since we're in the top 51, and byes and the Power of Veto are still in play...

...would anyone be willing to veto for me? Only if you weren't going to end up using your remaining bye yourself, of course. It would be incredibly appreciated.

/feeling awkward

From: [identity profile] crisp-sobriety.livejournal.com
Yeah, I thought the Power of Veto was the two-byes-per-gift-bye thing? I might be mis-remembering my Idol terminology. Well, that's what I meant, anyhow!

I don't like asking people for things, honestly, which is why I stress --only people who feel confident they won't need their bye. If that's nobody, I totally get it.

How do we donate a "bye" to the cause?

Date: 2014-11-18 10:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] crisp-sobriety.livejournal.com
Update on my situation!

One generous person has offered me a bye, on the condition that I get another to combine into one gift bye.

Clauderainsrm has said that a few people with remaining byes have already turned in an entry --would any of those be willing to donate a bye? I just need one more.

What gives me hope? Well, we somehow managed to pull off our infectious disease presentation today despite the fact that I thought it was on Thursday and came totally unprepared. (I hadn't even memorized my lines. And yet, I remembered all my lines. I AM A GOD.)

We had our slides and a mockup plague pamphlet (which I am very proud of largely because when doing the text I had to copy and paste the ligatures by hand) and then covered it with bloodstains and graphorrhea. I put on a long black coat and raged against the heavens. It was therapeutic.

Also, don't pretend to suddenly begin to die of the plague while giving a presentation to a roomful of people who are all either future doctors or already nurses and EMTs. Apparently I'm really good at it. (http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/acting_patrick_stewart.gif) Though, the play went great, a lot of people were seriously freaked out and they couldn't stop talking about it after.

...Hopefully at some point during all of this they managed to take notes on the reservoir, infectious dose, and morphology of Yersinia pestis because it's going to be on the exam.

...

Right now, I am having a real hard time coming up with "reasons to hope", as the litany of bad news for folks that I care about has been continuing unabated for several weeks now. For example: on Friday a co-worker revealed that he has been tentatively diagnosed as having Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)... better known here in the United States as Lou Gehrig's Disease. My friend is still undergoing tests, but as there is no definitive diagnostic test for ALS, he's hoping that he'll get a confirmed diagnosis for some other neurological disorder that would explain his symptoms.

How do you tell someone that you *HOPE* that the doctor confirms that they really are sick?!
