Today's special guests in the Green Room include: Bill Cosby, who will be showing everyone how to properly mix drinks and a fashion show by Dr Matt Taylor, who may give us an update on the current situation with the comet-landing a little later, if he has time!

Welcome guys! Nice of you to make it!

***

Note: For some reason, it appears that both of our special guests have cancelled. It guess it's just us today!

***

Oh well. We have a topic: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/805095.html
and a Work Room: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/805341.html
and a Home Game/Killing Floor: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/805793.html that could end up impacting the results this week!

We also have "What did you do this weekend?"

So, how was it? What did you do?

First! Hello. Snow Day!
We did a little Xmas shopping, I worked at the fit club and tutored a kid on Saturday. Made veggie quesadillas last night for dinner.
Bengals won. Florida State won. Life is good. AW

I started on my Idol piece, so sorta-yay for that? And caught up on a bunch of things and my new dishwasher is getting delivered today and um I'm only like a millionty twelve words behind on my NaNoWriMo but that's cool, why should this "novel" be any different from the others?

Also I'm idiot-tired right now and at work, which is never good. Thank god I at least work from home.

I'm in the same boat nano-wise. I'm at 511 words :/. Ah, as someone smart once said, the sooner I fall behind the more time I have to catch up.

Yay for a new DW! I'm just writing for writing. I may not make the Na-No goal, but I've been progressing. That's the main thing. AW

I had a cold this weekend, still sniffly and coughing occasionally. Still busy making holiday cards for the craft sale next Sunday - I have made a total of 19 sets of 5 cards each, and will make at least one more set, plus some individual cards to sell as well. Any cards that don't sell may go out to LJ friends and co-workers, but I am hoping to sell most of them, so we will see how it goes. Then i will need to clean off the dining room table, which is where I have been doing my crafting, in order to eat Thanksgiving dinner there!

And I still need to write my entry this week...

I went to a party on Saturday! It was nice and small, and there were cats as well as humans, and also some board games. It was pretty great. Otherwise, I've been taking care of my neighbor's critters while they're out of town - they have a hamster, a snake, a dog, a bird, and two chinchillas. The chinchillas are pretty much the fluffiest things ever, and I love them.

I am already distressed by how cold it is (high today of 17! Woo?) and ready for winter to stop being wintery.

oh my god, chinchillas. they look like they'd be the softest creatures in existence. i'd probably spend all my spare time petting them. (altho because i'm a horrible person i look at them and think "you'd make such good glove linings....")

Is that the Twitter KKK unmasking? I don't do Twitter much, so I'm not, but I think it's awesome. You wanna be a racist assclown, own it under your real name - victims don't get the luxury of anonymity.

[livejournal.com profile] rayaso and I had an actual "date night" on Saturday, for the first time in months. We saw Interstellar, which was good but loooonnng.

My mother turned 89, which she neither looks nor feels. The Oregon kids were able to be there, the California kids no, but she had a really nice day. :)

Worked for twelve hours straight on our microbio group project for the past three or four days. About to go finish that up right now, I'm just taking a break. And while I'm here, I want to find a way to complain about my parents making me go to the Caribbean without sounding like a spoiled ingrate.

Well, it's not like being trapped in a beach house on a desert island with people who abused me throughout childhood is going to be particularly restful. *grumbles* And they're only trying to bond with me now because they think I'll be making six figures later in life and they want to get on that gravy train. They didn't give a fuck about me when I didn't have my shit together.

(Also my parents work at a factory and I have no idea where they get the money to go on these vacations. I know they have a bit of money to throw around, they've just always been awfully cagey about how much and where it comes from.)

(Also I don't WANT to go to the Caribbean, there's nothing to DO there *whines* I wanted to see if there was one of those little med schools there so I could get access to the libraries and possibly witness some dissections or surgeries, and therefore get some studying done over break AS GOD INTENDED, but they picked an island without a med school. I will have to make my own fun.)
From: [identity profile] halfshellvenus.livejournal.com
Have your parents at least stopped the abuse now, though the memories of it will never fade?

I don't know how you stand living with them, though I know affordability has much to do with it.

You can sunscreen to the hilt, and bask with good books, and go snorkeling. Sometimes a little relaxation is good, especially given how exhausting med school is. :)

Crazy too-busy weekend for me. Doing things one has never done before is always so out of body an experience, isn't it?

I rode BART.

Incubated my Idol piece by listening to David Whyte. *genuflect* And finished it this morning.

Now back to Satyr Romance. My new nano.

Also, Temple Grandin (the autism advocate) is doing an AMA on Reddit! (http://www.reddit.com/r/biology/comments/2mk1gh/science_ama_series_im_temple_grandin_professor_of/) I really like her and she's very insightful, it's worth a read.

Heh, now that I have the time to write IMO decently, I'm now on orders not to use my hand as much as I have been...which is to say not much at all. Well, in my world at least.

I went to a game night with friends on Saturday that also involved homemade corn chowder and scones (with green onion, jalapeno, blue or cheddar cheese and bacon for the carnivores). We even managed to play a game! We do a different food theme every month with the idea that everyone can bring something, and some months end up all about the food prep to the point that there's no time left for a game.

Otherwise it was a pretty quiet weekend here.

There's a home game thread! After being lonely in there last week, and one not going up with the topic I figured they were done. But it's back and I feel like I have to carry the home game flag for some reason - despite the fact that I have nothing started. Hrmmm . . .

i wrote something for idol but am not sure how i feel about it. >.< i have another idea, anyway.

also saturday was the 24-hour write-in for nanowrimo, and i did the overnight part and cranked out 7500 words in about seven hours (it was from 11pm to 6:30am), thanks to way too many fig newtons and chocolate-chip cookies. sunday i didn't get out of bed until 1:30. ahem.

I did lots of party-prep for my 10-year-old's birthday party. (TEN!?)

He wanted a blue jay on his birthday cake. I don't know why, since we're in New Zealand, but he really likes birds and probably saw it in one of his books. I think I did an OK job.
