I just posted about Last Chance Idol: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/782944.html
so if you know anyone who has been on the fence, it's time to knock them off of it!

What are they doing just hanging out on a fence anyway? Are you friends with cartoon cats, howling in the alleyway?

YOUR topic is located right over here: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/782025.html and the Work Room is http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/782280.html

It's time to let the world know about the wonders of Idol... so fly my pretties, fly!!

***

Apparently *some of you* aren't actually winged monkeys. Which is a shame. Because winged monkeys are pretty awesome. You are pretty much failing in life by not being one. :(

First?!?

I know I've been MIA. This new work schedule is slowly killing me but it'll work itself out, maybe in the next millenium :p It's now a regular 9-5 gig. I come home, eat dinner, feed/walk Max, sit down to read (never mind respond to) messages...and I doze off the minute I turn on the laptop.

I'm here, I'm here!

Of course, I am baking a cake for Bob's birthday tomorrow. And it smells amazing. And it came out perfectly done, too. I think I have finally figured out my oven, hah. Gas ovens are a little trickier than the electric ones I've gotten used to...

I dunno if I could do 9-5. I'm so used to my 12-8 these days (and the resultant lack of sleep) that I like, don't know how to function otherwise.

That said, I don't want to go into work tonight on only like 1.5 hours of sleep. *sigh*

Oh. Crap. No second chance for all of us hanging by a thread anymore then.

Hah, it IS the 24th over there, isn't it? =p

I can't believe my kid is going to be 5. I just... what???

Haha, yeah. 9-5 is a shocker like that.

Could always drop, then try your hand at Second Chance -- but there's always that risk of not making it back into the Main Game, too.

Almost :) On the east coast it is; here we've almost 90 minutes to go.

He shares a bday with Adam! There's just 34 years between them :)

In other news, I am torn. There are several very good stories in my favourite books that both fit the topic perfectly, and technically have not been told yet, not in English.

But doing a sort of translation retelling remix feels like cheating and smells of plagiarism. The first especially, because someone else has already taken the situation and shaped the story in the form it is now in. Wah.

Well, I have to admit it's easier on my internal clock! Cake decorating is also much less physically stressful as opposed to baking (my knees are practically shot, so they're trying to ease me into the decorating FT and HOPEFULLY find a volunteer to learn the baking end). I'm also more apt to get more sleep on this schedule because, frankly, I can't keep running on 3-4 hours a sleep. I just can't anymore.

I have thought about it, yes. But doing so would be bad form, so no. :)

I see. :)

Yay Adam! lol It's a good day to be born, I think. ;)

Yeah, I can only imagine how much easier (physically, not mentally) decorating is on you. More sleep is also a plus.

I just keep whittling away at my book and I'll get it published and make decent money off it and I won't have to work 3rd shift anymore. ;) Or well, no, I lie. I like 3rd shift. He'll be in school full-time by the time that happens, anyway, (if it ever happens) and I'll be able to get more sleep, because of that.

OOH, CAKE!

SO's birthday is this weekend. As is Gary's :looks around: Actually it's the same day, which explains a LOT!

:D

Yeah, gas ovens are trickier. I've always had electric, so whenever I've used a gas oven it's like, "WHOA! Didn't expect the temperature to go up LIKE THAT!" Whereas I'm used to waiting a few minutes

I wouldn't do it, either. :) But it's always a thought! Hah

Peanut butter cake, even. :) The kidlet got to eat the batter off the beaters, too. <3 He was very patient about it.

It really does! Hah. :)

Mine warms up more like an electric oven -- it's just that you can't rely on the temperature to be consistent, either. I actually PREFER gas, at least for cooking on the stove. Baking is a whole 'nother animal to me and I haven't adjusted, yet.

It's sooooo weird! Of course I won't be saying this if/when I develop carpal tunnel, but that's a whole issue I'd rather ignore for the moment.

I can't even think of books or publishing or writing right now. I just don't have the energy. Today's my only day off this week and just looking at the state of this house makes me want to cry.

Well...could you take one of the stories and retell it in your own (English) words? You can say it's "based on X" but it won't be X because it'll be told in your own words...
