LJ is acting weird again this morning. So I have no idea if this will actually post or not.

If it does - your next challenge designers is an Unconventional Challenge. You need to write an entry using only the materials you can find in this industrial waste dump.*

Remember, the judges are going to be looking for originality and use of the materials, so don't go using "words", just the materials you find here, to make something spectacular. You have 3 minutes. ;)

(*Note - this is NOT an actual challenge. Just in case someone missed the Project Runway joke)

What IS an "actual challenge" though is writing the entries for the new topic(s): http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/776330.html With your partners! Hope you are having a good time with that!

(Since it's not a "FRIST", I can give cookies!)

I cannot get a posting screen to post to my LJ this morning - I get a page of random gobbledygook instead.

I will try that instead - thank you.

Refreshing multiple times did not work, so I went away and did some stuff in the RealWorld(tm) - when I returned, I was able to get in.

Morning All! Happy Friday! I start the new 1/2-time job on Monday. I've already had a dream about it. LOL I am that excited!

I hope the new job turns out to be a dream - heh.

I've rarely had happy dreams about my work, stress dreams I used to have a lot. Usually about chairs.

It's part time in a pre school. I've done gigs like this before. It's like being in a room full of puppies and billy goats! LOL
My dream was a stress dream tho...The admins came in the pre school room and asked me to teach Roman history....yeah, right...Not happening. LOL

Billy goats - ha! Because you never know what a preschooler will try to eat!

Roman history for pre-schoolers is a fascinating idea in theory, but certainly not happening in reality.

What about chairs stresses you?

Date: 2014-09-05 05:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] beeker121.livejournal.com
Back when I was stage managing there was a show that had a multitude of chairs. Each scene needed so many - sometimes the ones that matched, sometimes not - and one of my jobs was creating the flow that got all of the chairs into the right places at the right times to make their appearances. There were so many interesting ways it could be not right: five blue and one red, 4 round back and 1 square, ack two of the same chair when they're supposed to all be different! We/I figured it out, but it took over my whole brain for days.

After that, chairs stood in for any and everything in my stress dreams. I could be concerned about costume changes, or script revisions, or actors knowing their music and the dreams were always about chairs.

Ah - yes I can certainly see why chairs would feature so prominently!

Sofa, so good...

um, we already interviewed the chair. that was a few weeks ago :)

[livejournal.com profile] hosticle_fifer and I are being busy bees. I think maybe I'm emailing him too often, but I like to double-check things before going off on too much of a tangent, LOL. We will, however, be all sorts of awesome by the time we're done.

Just in case you were wondering. :)

And since I don't watch Project Runway, thanks for the explanation.

Hey, discussion is good, there's really no such thing as emailing TOO much. I feel like it's more work that's keeping me from responding as quickly as I like.

Wait, hold on...

[Yes, officer, that's her, she violated the restraining order three times this week]
[Yes, I have a log of the emails]
[Yep, I'm keeping her talking in the Green Room while you guys circle round the back]

*cough* um, no wait, I'm actually at work...

And for those of us who were quite literally the odd man out, was there some guidance on how to Make It Work? Inquiring minds and all that. :-)

I know you probably won't answer, but I'll ask anyway:

Are you going to turn around next week and make us write the topics that we passed over this week?

Because I'm scared of them.

Date: 2014-09-05 04:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gratefuladdict.livejournal.com
How about this: Are you going to put us in tribes this week by topic? There could be strategic value to avoiding the "harder" topics now so you aren't in a small tribe.

Date: 2014-09-05 04:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] beeker121.livejournal.com
It would be interesting to see which of the topics this group considers "harder".

My fear is we're going to play the game of - now write a topic you haven't yet with a new partner who is also writing a topic they haven't yet and they still can't match - for the next few weeks, because the corners, they get tighter.

Yup, I remember that particular dance. By the third week or so the variables involved in finding a partner were algebraic.

Spreadsheets - the only way to fly!

From: [identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com
Well, if I write Topic A this week, I might have to write on B, C, or D next week but if we change partners often the only requirement for the new partner is that they aren't also writing the same topic. So if you did B this week, we could theoretically team up - you could tackle A and I could do C or D without problem. Otherwise it would be really hard to team up!

It's better if you just don't put ideas in Gary's mind.

Because 1) he will never tell you the answer to those questions, and 2) it is ALWAYS better to sneak past the dragon than to get out the microphone and start yelling. :O

I'm still watching Project Runway, but these days the only things I pay attention to are the new challenge, Tim Gunn coming through to give advice, and the runway show/judging. For the rest I either fast forward on the DVR or am in the kitchen making dinner and just listening or something. I still like watching them make clothes, but the Drama is not my favorite.

I'm having a great time with my partner so far, and need to get a first draft done today. (Need, because the next book in a series by a beloved author came out this week, and I'm not letting myself start it until a draft is finished. Ah, motivation.)

I usually watch on Friday or Saturday of the week they air, but the show isn't appointment TV like it used to be for me. I have a few friends who keep up with it, so if I know I'm seeing them I catch up so we can chat.

Joining in late to say that I had some struggles with LJ last week (the, "No, the server will not talk to you. What were you thinking?" kind).

At this point, my first thought is always, "Huh. Wonder what's going on that causing a Denial-Of-Service problem in Russia?"

Because most of the time, that's what it is. :(
