We've reached the "Day of Reckoning" for 3 more people this week - and from what I've seen in the polls over the last few weeks, I really wouldn't put anyone in the "completely safe" category! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/771972.html

So, for those of you comfortable doing so - what entries really impressed you, that might not be getting enough attention?

Heck - what is it about YOUR entry that makes you think "Hell Yeah I deserve to stick around one more week!!"

Once you get finished with voting - head on over to the Killing Floor. There was actually only one entry there this week, but it definitely needs some more love and attention! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/770622.html

With the caveat that I still have about 25 more entries to read (and thus haven't yet cast my own votes, but have looked at the poll numbers), I'm really surprised that [livejournal.com profile] sobota, [livejournal.com profile] gratefuladdict, and [livejournal.com profile] beeker121 aren't pulling in better numbers!

Admittedly, [livejournal.com profile] sobota's entry is geared more towards Douglas Adams fans, but maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much!

Definitely seconding [livejournal.com profile] beeker121 and [livejournal.com profile] gratefuladdict—I loved both of those entries!

*smooches*

unless you don't like that type of thing, in which case I'll keep a respectful distance away and offer you cookies or some other sugar-based treat

Exactly! COOKIES FOR ALL. Affection for those that want it. ;)

I think that should be embroidered on a wall hanging. Or maybe a pillow.

From: [identity profile] kickthehobbit.livejournal.com
I could totally do that! :D

eta: sorry, I just get really excited every time embroidery comes up. Like, HEY I CAN DO THAT THING.

I am teaching myself embroidery, in a rather unfocused way, by stitching little flowers over the holes that sprouted in one of my sweaters after a trip through the dryer. But creating anything that was legible would be far beyond my skill.

Now knitting/crocheting into an afghan I could do, but how often are those spread out in the average home?

I have an afghan on the back of my couch right now. I think it depends on who you talk to. :)

Oops, read this too fast as "sugar-based trout."

Which... ew! Not much of an incentive!

From: [identity profile] beeker121.livejournal.com
Heh. Now I want to know what a sugar-based trout would taste like.

In a class at an art camp in HS we had to take random words and make them into a poem, our team's was titled "Cosmic Trout". Which I think of any time someone brings up the fish.

Aw, thanks lady.

I've noticed there seems to be a big jump in votes across the board in the last hour or so, I think it's the folks trying to read everyone either finishing, or at least getting their votes in for what they've read.

I'm really feeling the "middle of the alphabet" agonies lately!

May I change my name to aardvark_antics or zyzzyva_weevil so I can escape the doldrums of the M names?

Not really watching the vote count, but so far I think [livejournal.com profile] kandigurl and [livejournal.com profile] cheshire23 both have entries that everyone should make sure and read, both for perspectives on some things most people will never consider.

And as for part 2 of today's GR, my answer is a lot more complex...

As some of you may or may not know, this has been the hardest summer of my life - well hardest year of my life would be more accurate. It's affected my writing style quite unintentionally, and made me darker. At least that's how I feel. So although I'm nowhere near being OK yet, I made a concerted effort to make my entry lighthearted rather than filled with angst that has been me this season. I needed to write SOMETHING and make an attempt to get back to reality. I'm relatively sure that I will be eliminated tonight, but so be it. I'm proud to have been able to have gotten an entry in at all...

My entry is personal. It part of what makes me the person I am today. it impacted my life & it was hard at times to write without getting angry and resentful towards the situation.

I am clearly the worst judge of my own writing. Because entries I thought were horrid got a TON of comments about how much people liked them, and I thought this entry was great, but it has the fewest comments of any of my LJI entries so far!

At any rate, all these stories that keep spilling out of me are giving me more stuff to pass on to my publisher for a short story collection!

Mm, I have the same problem - I didn't like my entry this week at all, but it seems reasonably popular with everyone.
