Green Room - Week 17 - Day 7

It's funny. You start going back to look at archives and everything starts flooding back. All the emotions and stuff you remember but don't really REMEMBER. (If that makes any sense)

You start missing people - and wishing that you had better aim to actually *hit* some of those people. ;)

You start thinking about them - and some of the ones that you wish were gone forever start popping back up on your radar, back to their old tricks.

Which is when you remember that if you think too hard about some things, it's like Beetlejuice - they will appear, ready to cause havoc again.

Ah, life...

It could be worse though. We could be in Ferguson Missouri.

It infuriates me whenever someone uses my Intellectual Property (i.e. The "FRIST!" Meme) without my permission. I loudly and vociferously declare such transgressors as being "Dead To Me".

However, I have done this to so many Idolers that they have formed their own club: The Prestigious "Dead To ellakite" Society. Their recruitment slogan is "Come Join Us! We Have Cookies!" Hence my handing over the box of pecan sandies...

I wanted to thank everyone who has responded so positively to my entry for this week! When I initially posted it, I thought for sure it was going to be my last entry to LJI because I thought it was hasty and didn't look very good, but I think it might have garnered more positive feedback than anything else I've ever written for LJI, amazingly. I've gone through a lot in my personal life lately, so this week's submission is very close to my heart and it means the world that people are saying it's registering with them, too! Thanks, everyone - you're a balm to my heart this week.

The police in Ferguson, MO shot and killed an unarmed 18 year old black man. The community got upset, and things have just been escalating since. What's going on there has been simmering for a loong time. Not just in Mo. You can't oppress, imprison and kill people of color. If Americans think racism isn't an issue in the US. Just ask yourself this question... if your state is "open carry", would you if you were black/brown? Didn't think so.

Sad that things haven't changed much in 50yrs. :'(

In unrelated news, I submitted a poem back in April (Wild Sea (http://roina-arwen.livejournal.com/1652043.html) --this is Friends Locked, just FYI) to a literary journal called Duende. I got a rejection, but it was a very nice rejection! To whit:

I guess that's not bad for a first time submission. Maybe I will have better luck with the next one.

I ran into a guy who was a couple of years behind me in HS last week. We went through the whole "did you know...oh yeah, I remember..." spiel for a good fifteen minutes to the amusement of Crochet Coworker.

Cut her out of my life again and this time it's a gazillion times worse. I'm convinced she is the nutcase sending me anonymous, insulting but non-threatening, letters to me every few months.

overdid yesterday and been in crash mode today.

got in my vote and out up a link to a nice bit one why i can and do ask questions about how peopleare caring for their companion birds - I have worked very hard at curbing this here along with my desire to talk birds with people as i have been jonsisng a lot. This whole thing in Ferguson has me so angry. Events like this happen all too often, and those in charge aren't kept in check, so they go and kill unarmed people all over again. The victims are almost always POC. It's horrible. I heard Anonymous was about to reveal the name of the officer that shot the poor kid.

Unrelated, but I get my MRI tonight. Cranial and spine this time around. If anyone reads this, please wish me luck. It's not the procedure itself I fear, but the results.

They revealed it earlier today. Per the authorities though, that wasn't the officer. Now that the guy named has received death threats, they are saying they will not be releasing the actual name until their investigation is complete.

Yeah, I just read that. I guess they released a second name, and the St. Louis PD essentially called Anonymous a bunch of misinformed liars.

Still, with all that has happened, Missouri needs to get their act together.
