Well, I managed to give n3m3sis43 her idea for her post this week, but I'm still churning my brain over how to approach the vague ideas I have for myself. I think I know which universe to play in, though, and that's usually a good start. :)

My favorite video game in the whole world is getting a remake and they just started the ARG today and released a teaser and I'm so happy, you guys

(Also, I finished my course. I got an A. So I'll stop being that guy who can only talk about the exams they have to take. At least until the fall semester starts up in late August. Might also turn in a story a day or three before the deadline, even.)

My twisted mind has come up with an interesting line of thought regarding this week's topic... but I can't figure out how to turn it into a story. Feedback/suggestions would be appreciated:

I start off with one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite novels: "Fear is the little death."

I link this to a French euphemism for orgasm: "Le petite mort", which literally translates as... "The little death".

So:

Fear = The Little Death
Orgasm = The Little Death
Ergo: Fear = Orgasm

The problem is that I don't know what to do with this conclusion... other than writing a piece which explores the prevalence of sex in horror movies, but that seems like a very dry approach.

In a word: HELP!

Yeah, the SCREAM movie franchise (which simultaneously honored and parodied the slasher movie trend) had one genre-savvy character note that "SEX EQUALS DEATH" in a horror movie. This character gets attacked by the murderer in the first movie but survived the assault... and in the final scene he actually says "I never thought I'd be so happy to be a virgin."

But the bottom line is that while I find this overall concept darkly humorous... I haven't come up with a story to go with it.

Don't get me started on what was wrong with the (first) Dune movie...

ETA: And I also said "One of my favorite novels". I'm not saying that Dune is my all-time favorite novel... but it definitely made an impression on me.

I have a very silly, playful kitten creature who loves to lurk around shoes and the rocking chair! She doesn't sit still for more than two seconds. Then she's The Black Flash!

My entry is about 95% written. My Saturday work day is complete in two hours. Then maybe it's Pool and Reading Time if the clouds stay away!

I'll figure out Sunday when I wake up tomorrow. Possibly tutoring and writers group.

I'm still busy fixing up my new house, and moving in after an international move. Gotta tidy up a lot this weekend before all our stuff finally arrives from overseas on Monday. That's why I had to quickly nut out my entry already.

I kind of get the feeling that since I had to use my immunity in the last poll, I'll get booted this week anyway, because people probably a) don't remember me and/or b) don't like the fact I skipped ten weeks of the game (I had to drop because of the aforementioned move) and suddenly I'm back in, straight into the top 100. Oh well. It's good to have some time to write again, even if it's only for a brief period.

I don't think folks are apt to take the return too personally. (Anyone who does, well, they would've had sticks lodged in uncomfortable places anyway, so they'd have found something else about which to be upset.) So don't sweat the voting ... especially for weeks where Gary announces you had immunity. Now that you're sans net, you're one of us. (Again.)

I liked last week's entry (just had no time to comment), and I think the community knows you're just getting warmed up again and will be fine with that. I haven't read this week's entry yet, but I'm personally looking forward to it. So don't put your pencil down just yet. ;-)

Truth be told, I didn't even vote for myself because I knew I had immunity. And I felt bad because I didn't have time to read any entries. I only joined last minute because I needed to write that entry (which I thought fit the topic perfectly), regardless of whether or not people read or voted for it.

But I appreciate the support and thoughts. :)
