A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:

Congratulations to the Top 100!!

You’ve made it!

LJ IDOL is many things to many people, but one of the things that everyone can agree on is that it’s all about endurance. Getting to this point isn’t easy - but you did it. So congratulations to you!

Unfortunately, in order to get here, we had to lose some people on the final climb, just within sight of this peak.

They are: [livejournal.com profile] kenakari, [livejournal.com profile] morleysnow and [livejournal.com profile] puppetmaker40 who dropped

and [livejournal.com profile] belenen who byed out.

All of them are awesome, and I hope they will be considering jumping at the opportunity when Second Chance comes around!

In addition, there’s a sacrifice post in the mix. I’ll announce that one as part of the eliminations at the end of the week, to make it official.

There is another bit of good news in that [livejournal.com profile] belgatherial used her power of the Resurrection Stone to bring a player back into the game. That player is [livejournal.com profile] deidrewilliams. Welcome back, and welcome to the Top 100. Just FYI: She has a one week immunity, to help her get her footing.

As for the rest of you - you may have noticed that there is one tribe now - and a Redemption Tribe. Given that one of them took a bye, it would be an automatic elimination - but I hate doing that to someone who showed up to play. So instead, they are safe.

In the main tribe though, we will be losing the four with the fewest votes. (Well, three and the sacrifice).

So make sure to read, comment, and vote to keep your favorites in the competition!

Your support is what determines who moves on, and who will eventually win this thing!

The poll will close Thursday, August 7th at 9pm EDT

Good luck to everyone!

the chronological order of the comment matters not. all that matters is that it was made. (:

Nope... I'm afraid not.

read all the things in 2 days. I'll be starting after a 4 hour insurance exam tomorrow that I'm madly cramming for. Sorry I've been absent lovelies I promise after tomorrow to be back in action. Top 100! Wooooooo!

Four hour exam! On insurance!

That sounds hideous. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks! it truly is, I spent the majority of today reading about mutual funds and savings bonds. I have no money so this is not exactly relevant to me. But work is work. 4 hour exams though, I could live without.

Did I remember correctly that we had three byes to use overall? When do they go away? I just need to know in case I have as much difficulty recovering from Otakon as I am preparing for it!

three byes overall, to be used until the top 50

Sorry to see y'all go – there really are great writers there!

So...to clarify...the Redemption Tribe will be the same next week, barring further byes, either of us missing the deadline, or another tie in the main tribe?

Or is it all a mystery? :)

ETA: Upon rereading, I'm a bit more clear on this week and should add my thanks to Gary. Though I am still wondering about my questions above!

Oooooo...I am so torn!

On one hand, yes, it's pretty mean to make one person in a two-person tribe "compete" when the other person takes a bye.

On the other hand, if I was counting byes, and I knew a substantial portion of my tribe didn't have any left, I might take a bye as a strategic move. There was that week where the Redemption Tribe had 14 contestants and 8 byes, and that sure gave a handicap to the 6 with entries.

I do feel like the decision to give the writer this week a pass is the kindest one.

Future-wise, though, does this mean someone else could plan that they *probably* wouldn't get booted if they were the only non-bye in a tribe?

Should someone in that case be given the option to use a bye themselves, or beg/hustle a bye from another contestant who still has byes?

Should they be thrown into another tribe?

Should the Redemption Tribe not be allowed to bye, since it's already a last chance situation and they should be writing for their lives?

Of course only Gary gets to make that decision, but I'm curious what others think!

For my money, this does confirm the priority of writing over strategic play...

I've got to admit that I was surprised a Redemption writer was allowed to use a bye for the reason you stated. Obviously they are though, I was just surprised...

Also, that actually worked out very well for the other author, as it automatically made them 'safe'.

So this situation basically meant that the two people in the second chance Redemption Tribe were actually the safest... (along with those in tribe one taking a bye, obvs)

Thanks for posting – you got me to go back and reread Gary's post, which cleared up some of my confusion!

I am all for kindness. However, I find myself nodding my head with the "last chance situation, write for your lives" train of thought. I personally think that the Redemption Tribe should not be allowed to bye. I want to see passion and effort to stay, not a technicality.

I understand that perspective, and respect your authori-tye. Just adding my two cents to an interesting conversation regarding what I consider in situations like this one. It's like discussing what we do and don't like in entries. I love seeing passion.

I appreciate your thoughts on this! I think I misread the post originally, so I was confused specifically...but it does bring up some questions in general, I suppose. :) No complaints here, of course. :)

You might be over analysing this.
Or maybe it's a question of are people here to win, or to enjoy the journey? Cos, only one person can win, and that's not great odds :)

I feel like a doof, but what happened to [livejournal.com profile] impoetry? I don't see an entry from him, but I'm also fairly certain he didn't get eliminated (or did I miss it somehow? That would make me super sad, because he's one of my favorites!), so now I'm baffled...

Shit. :( I don't know how I missed that, but now I'm sad all over again (also, it's entirely possible I DIDN'T miss it, and just forgot seeing it. Because I am a doofus)

Hi.

I fell of the Earth for a bit. I seem to keep falling, actually.

Thanks for thinking of me though. It means a lot to be thought of.

Especially when you keep falling.

Much love,

B

<3 Gravity can be a pain (or rather, impact after application of gravity can be). Be careful with all that falling, and don't forget to fall up from time to time.

Yay, I made it to the top 100!

Though, wow, I did not expect to make it this far. I'm pretty sure I'll fall off before top 50 one way or another, but I made it this far and that is awesome. -.-

NOOOOOOOoooo! I tried to submit a few minutes ago and there was some error. SO I KNOW I forgot some of the people I was originally voting for, this time around. I suppose this is why people keep spreadsheets. :(

From: [identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com
aww. :(

That's the biggest reason, though some people just make lists, and then toss them when their submit is successful.

A few seasons ago, the crashing when you hit submit problem was worse. Though, now that I think about it, it might be related to the number of options in a poll, and this poll is pretty long.

I did make a list of the first 30 or so that I did yesterday and thought about doing it again this morning but I am rushed because I start teaching on Monday. SOOOO... failure.
