Thursday!  We made it to Thursday!

That said...  your entries are due in 3 days!  Which is nice because it means [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm will have returned and I will have a few extra minutes in the morning that don't end up with me saying "Oh grap!  Green Room!"

Or attempting to be witty at ungodly hours.

However, I feel somewhat invested in you all now so this may mean I pay more attention than I have.

Hey, if you ever want entertainment, go into the archives and start at the beginning.  Seeing what this community and contest were in 2006 compared to what it is now....  amazing.  You will also see the evolution of me as tech support.  And all the times I screwed up the polls.  Good stuff.

Here are your links:

What a long, strange trip it's been! Happy Thursday! I have a dentist appointment this morning for a cleaning (and probably some light nagging about needing to floss more) then off to work...

Still not first...

Still passes you some cookies to finish off before you head for your appointment..;)

Man, dentists, always with the nagging about the flossing! I'd like to know if they REALLY floss every day, or if sometimes they're just like, "You know what? FUCK flossing."

I had this exact thought last time I was at the dentist.

I think we all wonder the same thing - it's like the proverbial doctor who tells people to stop smoking, when in reality he smokes like a chimney!

Date: 2014-07-25 12:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] agirlnamedluna.livejournal.com
My dad was like that - he was a specialist internal diseases and smoked like a chimney, drank and went out nights, little exercise and not too good diet ...

From: [identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com
Yeah, I wonder that too. It's not the dentist that nags so much, it's the hygenist, although she's very nice about it.

On the plus side, my dentist is *very* cute. ;)

I'm surprised I got one done this early. I was beating my head against the wall trying to figure out something to do with this topic.

Some weeks the hard part is picking from the 50 ideas the prompt gives you. Other weeks you get nothing until the last minute. And this week, I had only the one idea, so I went with it.

It's good being done early though...

I have FINALLY come up with an idea for what to write...now comes the hard part.

From: [identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com
Now comes the *harder* part. It's all hard!!

Except for those rare times when it isn't. ;)

It probably helped that my husband proposed the idea for my entry this week - I think I shocked him by saying "You know what? I like it!"

While the rest of us procrastinators struggle with our entries, I thought we could waste more time reading these excerpts from rejection notices turning down famous books.

George Orwell's Animal Farm:
“It is impossible to sell animal stories in the U.S.A.”

Norman MacLean’s A River Runs Through It:
“These stories have trees in them.”

From rejection slip for article sent to the San Francisco Examiner to Rudyard Kipling:
“I'm sorry, Mr. Kipling, but you just don't know how to use the English language."

The Diary of Anne Frank:
“The girl doesn't, it seems to me, have a special perception or feeling which would lift that book above the curiosity level.”

Dr. Seuss’s And To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street:
“Too different from other juveniles on the market to warrant its selling.”

And the winner of the Polite Rejection Award goes to a
rejection by a Chinese economic journal:
“We have read your manuscript with boundless delight. If we were to publish your paper, it would be impossible for us to publish any work of lower standard. And as it is unthinkable that in the next thousand years we shall see its equal, we are, to our regret, compelled to return your divine composition, and to beg you a thousand times to overlook our short sight and timidity.”

Hahahahahahaha!

I have used the Polite Rejection Award with dates. I don't believe it's patented.

My favorite, for the sheer stupidity, is, “These stories have trees in them.”

AND???

The Anne Frank one, though... must have been penned by a uniquely callous person.

It's really not fair to post these sorts of things without the name and position of the person who responded. You can't be called out anonymously!

The kids have been going to a summer session of preschool. Today is their last day. However, Nicky isn't there. I dropped him off at his new elementary school for a Kindergarten Camp. My little man is growing up so fast.

For some reason, this week's prompt stumped me good. I finally just forced my fingers to type words yesterday and I posted. ;) An off week with my entry...but hell, better than having that Sword of Damocles hanging over my head until Sunday. *can think again*

Three days? Why was I thinking I had 10 days?
... what month is this, anyway?

Well, sure, but ... clearly 7 days haven't elapsed. It's only been, like, 2.

I made no headway on my story yesterday, just minor revisisions of the three paragraphs that exist.

Which I normally try to hold off on (always a battle) until a draft is done, but it has been a hell of a week and the sleepiness set in before anything more happened.

PLEASE let work settle down below the "Can't leave the desk" level I've been sitting at. :(

you know....i was thinking too literal. The whole topic is an acting term and being an actor, i was losing my mind trying to come up with something since I have not studied any Chekov (since I'm not a theater actor). well then i started exploring my hobbies and also brought it up to my loving boyfriend (you know, Prince Charming in last week's entry) and boom....he's totally getting an assist credit this week.
