Good Tuesday morning, Idolers.

I had a horrific nightmare that was ended only because my alarm clock went off.  Never have I been happier for the alarm.  Have you ever had a night like that?  Felt like I kept waking up and going right back into the dream.

Are you all getting your posts ready for the poll?  I see a lot of comments about research so hopefully you're making progress.

Here are your daily links:

Heat index in the 100 degree area today for Wisconsin.  Tomorrow's high?  77.

Have a great day!

Sounds like sleep paralysis. I have such dreams sometimes, like I wake up, and see the room... and then I go about my business but my eyesight is frozen on the point of view it was on when I "woke up", and I can't unfreeze it. *shiver*

I have an exam later. It's 8 AM. I haven't slept. I can't sleep. *weeps profusely*

So I can become a surgeon. Going to my classes and taking my exams is a little important.

I'm gonna forget it all by the time I have to do anything out in the field anyway. :I

*Hugs* If you can't sleep, you can maybe study, or if you are studied out, do something else besides trying to sleep, to take your mind off it? Something that is fun and relaxing for you to do.

What's the exam in? Good luck!

Nothing special. Anatomy. I have a lab practical tomorrow, too. I'm good at the subject, I haven't gotten below a 90 yet this semester. I have exams every week and sometimes twice a week, so I'm pretty much always in a state of an upcoming exam.

Are you always unable to sleep before exams?

Good luck!

No. I'm not an anxious person. I just have a time I go to bed every day and I need to do it in that window. If I get distracted by a game or by thinking too much between 4 AM and 6 AM, I don't go to sleep at all. Until I collapse of exhaustion, anyway.

That happened to me recently, where I had a nightmare and I woke up from it. It was too early to be awake, but I was terrified of going back to sleep. I moved to the guest bed and managed to get a few extra winks in, but it wasn't a happy night. :(

100 degrees in Wisconsin? Is that one of the signs of the end times?

OMG cheese. I bought the best cheese when I was in Ohio! Young's Dairy is sooooo good. NOM.

Sorry you had such an awful sleep! These summer temps are kinda whack-o, aren't they? Still after last winter when hell really did freeze over, I'm not complaining much. LOL

I just got back from an appointment for an allergy test, where I heard the dermatologist where I was sent to couldn't do anything for me and I needed to see a ENT (which I requested to start with, but I was told I needed the dermatologist). Hospitals, I swear. At least I got my money back and it didn't take up too much time.

My FIL used to say dermatologists don't cure anybody, and they don't kill anybody either. LOL

He may have had a point ;)

Considering I grew up at the beach, I *should* see a dermatologist again to check for suspicious skin spots, I did a year or two ago but then forgot to go back.

I have posted, whee! It's always such a relief to get it over and done with, you know?

So I was supposed to be part of a paid 2-hour long Focus Group last night, regarding our state's employee health plan (or would that be our state employees' health plan? Whatever...) but too many people showed up - they only needed 8, and 12 showed. So I was one of the four sent home without participating. Bonus - I still got paid! Not as much ($60 instead of $90) but it meant I had the rest of my evening free.

So I treated myself to a small frozen yogurt on the way home, from one of the places where you top them how you want to. It was a delicious chocolate & peanut butter swirl delight, with a sprinkling of Coco Puffs, mini marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs. Yum!

Lately my mind has been trying to make me forget my dreams as soon as I wake up. It'll start playing some song in my head, making me think of something unrelated, even as I'm trying to focus on the elements of what I just dreamt.

It's more annoying than dealing with a dream you don't like. Dreams are just a processor, a way of dealing with elements, events, situations that you might not know what to do with in your waking life. To me, there aren't any "bad" dreams... just aspects of what you need to examine.

There aren't any "bad" dreams, I agree - but nightmares and night terrors are another matter entirely.

I very rarely remember my dreams, but those few times that I do tend to stick with me!

Funny you should ask that today.

Half the night was spent dreaming sad ruminations for the way Arnold Schwarzenegger trashed his marriage with his infidelities (don't ask me why I chose to fixate on that).

The other half was moving into potential houses with my parents, sibs, and the guy I was in love with Freshman year of college... which went from the typical "My Dad is choosing a house without considering the kids' needs to have their own rooms/space" (this is a common retread) to "Wait, there's a room upstairs-- a really nice one! With a fire that's already on. And a stereo system that operates itself. Plus a person coming out of the back of the cabinet. Oh, f**k, this is a haunted room! Why are there all these locks on the neighbor's side of the door? Damn, this ghost is homicidal. And unkillable. And who are these dogs-- they're friendly. -ish. But are they also evil?"

The dream improved later on, but that part seemed to go on forever, and was seriously not fun. WTH?

I had a dream two weeks ago that both of my kids were killed. Much of the dream was me coming apart at the seams and trying and failing to deal with this. When I clumsily started lurching awake, I didn't realize it. Eventually I realized, "Wait, I don't have to live in this world where the kids are dead. I can retreat to that other world", and woke up.

I have moody, pseudo-nightmare dreams pretty frequently, and I actually enjoy them in a way. This one though, this was the first dream I've had in a long time that affected me like that. The sensation of profuse, deep-body crying was damn vivid.

So...Happy Tuesday! ;)
