Well.  It's been about a million years or so since I've done one of these.  I'm sure most of you have no idea who I am.  [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm was correct, though, in his statement that in earlier seasons I put forth the idea that it might be easier to just draw a winner from a hat and ban everyone else.  I was working 2 jobs then and trying to help maintain order in this madhouse.

Oh who am I kidding, it still may not be the worst idea I've ever had.  :-)

Regardless, here we are in a Saturday Green Room.

Per instructions here are the pertinent links:

The Current Topic:  http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/759800.html

The Work Room:  http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/759830.html

There is a breakfast buffet but I've hidden the bacon.  Ha!

Still amused that [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm told you about my secret plans to end seasons....

Have at it, Kids.  I'll be around.

Glad to see you back! How have you been? :)

Woot, two Frists in a row! There's hope for me, perhaps :)

That's all good news :) Glad to see your absence was for good reasons ^_^

I've been ... trying to figure things out, sift the good from the bad and go from there, of course while juggling that pesky thing called responsabilities and such ;)

I'm ashamed to admit time management has gotten away from me even while *playing* Idol and I'm behind too. But I'm keeping positive and I'll get better!

Disappointed to hear there are times when you *don't* insult Gary though ... *G*

That's reassuring :) Something is still right in this world!

Fortunately the biggest one is a really sweet and cute and smart 6 year old, also known as the very first Idol baby ;)

WHO ARE YOU, AGAIN?!

Some people call me "The Space Cowboy", baby.
Some call me "The Gangster of Love".
Some people just call me "Maurice".

(i'm also the guy who invented the "frist" meme... and anyone who uses it without my permission is "dead to me". just in case you didn't know.)

You... created an icon based on my meme?!

Without my explicit permission???!!?

...

You really, *REALLY* want to be "dead to me", don't you?

Actually, it's based on the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, which has been in existence longer than the meme.

And really I just want ALL THE COOKIES. :)

Already ate my bacon. With eggs and cheese on a toasted onion bun. Already drank my 24 oz. of Diet Dr. Pepper and 10 oz. of green Constant Comment. Getting my car serviced. Their wifi is not cooperating, so it's an ideal time to write, right? Nope. Reading on my phone instead. Silly minikin.

Welcome back Kithan :)

Guys I need help: the keys to my husband's windows 8 laptop are all screwed up, no idea how it happened (yep, it's the one I'm using right now and you won't believe how long it's taking to type this). If I type QWERTY, I get ZNLHPI and so forth. Changed the regional settings, changed to another english keyboard layout like the solutions my Google search suggested, but no dice.

I'm afraid to restart in case I can't log in with the password. Can anyone suggest another troubleshooting site so I can fix this? My Google-fu is apparently too weak.

Thanks

Do you have Comcast/Xfinity? So far, my Googling has found there is a program called Constant Guard that comes with Comcast Xfinity (and possible some Norton security software?) and is incompatible with Windows 8. It can cause keyboard issues, and turning off Constant Guard would stop them.

Only other thing I have found so far is to make sure the Unicode Settings (I think under Regional Settings along with the language?) is also set to U.S.

I'm not in the US, so Comcast's not an issue :). What's weird was that it was working up to Thursday night.

Okay, Unicode U.S. and Keyboard U.S didn't work, but setting the Unicode Settings to U.S, and the keyboard layout to English - Caribbean seems to have fixed the problem. Odd.

Thanks for the help hun.

That's what I was going to suggest - well somewhat different. Whenever my keyboard gets messed up, it's because the keyboard switched from US - International to *other language* and my language settings switched from Netherlands Dutch to *other language*. I only use these specific settings because it allows me to type French with all its accents on a QWERTY keyboard.

English - UK works better on mine than English - US does, and I'm in the US. ;) Keyboards are just wonky sometimes. Glad you got it working!

Wow, we're slow, even for a weekend.

Hey GR! Pot-sized spaghetti vs. full-sized spaghetti -- better, or just more lazy?

Date: 2014-07-19 11:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com
I'm not sure I understand the question re: pot-sized vs full sized. Do you mean that you snap the spaghetti noodles in half?

All spaghetti is tasty!

Date: 2014-07-20 12:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jem0000000.livejournal.com
They're pre-snapped in half! I found them the last time I went shopping -- same price and ounces as the regular ones, but they're roughly half the length. So I bought those instead of the regular spaghetti noodles, to try them, and we used them today and they taste perfectly normal as well. :D

I think they're super cool, but in the course of making spaghetti, it was suggested that pot-sized noodles are weird because it's not hard to break them in half. *shrug*

Date: 2014-07-20 01:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com
Well, no it's not hard to break them but I'm sure the pot sized ones are more consistently all the same length!

If its the same price and ounces, might as well get them if you like them.

From: [identity profile] jem0000000.livejournal.com
They are! And also you don't have to worry about dropping one if you're not good at keeping them centered over the pot while you break them. :)

I skipped breakfast. Because I went to sleep around 7am. I just had lunch though! (at 4pm...) and now I'm lounging in my new favorite tea house with all my writing gear. I WILL GET SOMETHING ACCOMPLISHED TODAY. -sips chocolate boba milk tea instead-
