Well, OK, there has only been 1 vote cast, but those people are towering over everyone else!
Or perhaps that means that everyone is separated by only 1 vote, and the results are just too close to call! ;)

One of the (many) great things about Idol is how there are as many ways to look at it as there are contestants - and discovering those differences about why you are here and what you hope to get out of the experience is one of those things that continues to evolve as the game goes deeper into the jungle.

Totally agree, btw. What makes a winner is not just writing ability, although the winners in the seasons I've played and watched have definitely had that. You have to have the tenacity to put up with a lot of crazy, and a willingness to bend what others may perceive as the rules.

Date: 2014-07-12 10:04 pm (UTC)What makes that interesting to me is that it gives more power to who is well known/liked within the ranks of the contestants itself. Which means that a clique could, potentially, have more power.
One of the big ideas behind it though was that if someone showed up with a huge friends list, and ended up just dominating - to the point that it was irritating to other contestants, that they would have options.
It's been used that way a couple times. Other times it's pretty much matched up to "where the public voting trend" was going.
Either way, it always makes for a fun read for me to see where the "inside baseball" of the season might be going!

Date: 2014-07-12 10:12 pm (UTC)The on and off complaining about people with big flists is a huge part of the reason I chose to compete using my writing journal this time. I didn't post voting links every week when I played under my main journal in season 8, but by the end of the season I did.

Sometimes Gary offers to answer email after-the=fact to let you privately know where you fell (safe vs close to the line).
