Work Room - Week 13
Jun. 23rd, 2014 09:58 pmThe new topic is out there: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/751386.html
and it's one that people either love or fear.
(Mostly fear)
Because it doesn't even try to hide that it's about *literally anything and everything you can imagine writing about*.
Most people like some sort of limits. Even if the limits are just in how they personally view the words that are strung together in a topic.
Open Topic though, it brings all of that back into focus.
So here you go, here's your chance to truly shine, with no limits holding you back!
What do you have in store for us?

Date: 2014-06-24 02:01 am (UTC)There are one or two stories that I do want to tell... but I have one major problem -- they're all likely too damned long for The Real LJ Idol. Even with the full week to work.
I need to mull this over. I'll get back to you.

Date: 2014-06-24 02:29 am (UTC)I've had a concept in my head since around the first week of Idol, and I've been dying for it to fit one of the prompts so I could write it, so this might be my chance finally! XD

Date: 2014-06-24 02:38 am (UTC)On the bright side, almost everything I can possibly write is the opposite of what I wrote last week, so the sky's the limit.
I think using 'open' might be a little too obvious, though. So I'll have to mull it a bit.
It might be back to the serial novel for me this week, but I'm not certain there ....

Date: 2014-06-24 03:20 am (UTC)I don't know what I'm going to write this week. I'd joke about writing time-travel, but I've done that recently. Something else, maybe. We'll see. I like open topics—having the freedom to just write is always nice—but I'm feeling a little burnt-out after mentoring undergrads today, so...no ideas as yet. There was something about "conceptual cities" talked about last week—I might take that and run with it.
Where do everyone's ideas come from?

Date: 2014-06-24 03:22 am (UTC)There's a real-life thing I've wanted to build a story around for years and haven't ever done it, maybe I just need to decide that's my prompt and go with it. Or maybe I'll keep dithering.

Date: 2014-06-24 06:44 am (UTC)Does this mean we have to pick a topic and actively state the topic we've chosen?
Anyone have any genre/style/whatever they'd like to see more of from what I've written?

Date: 2014-06-24 08:03 am (UTC)Not unless you want to. Just write on... whatever you like!

Date: 2014-06-24 10:16 am (UTC)I've got to think of this. I've got a couple of very vague ideas, but other than that, nothing.
Or let's put it this way: I know there are things dying to be written but I've been shoving them aside because I don't want to particularly write about them right now for any number of reasons.
Pffffffffffffft :p
I need more coffee.

I am taking requests...
Date: 2014-06-24 11:43 am (UTC)Anyone got any suggestions/requests for me? I have a huge deadline at work that involve constant shifting priorities and decision-making related to said priorities and I am completely at a loss as far as making any sort of personal decisions at the moment.
(Requests for what NOT to write will also be considered.)

Date: 2014-06-24 01:26 pm (UTC)Anything you guys want to see from me, in particular? I have half a brain to attempt humor again, but I still lack actual ideas. I kinda want to do fiction, but, well, y'know how that goes. =p
I'm also half-tempted to store something smexy, but, well... yeah. It would probably be heavily based on a nonfiction event, soooo... yeah.
Ideas, I needs them.
