Green Room - Week 12 - Day 6

We've been having training at work for the past couple of days.

Not "go into a meeting room" training or "have someone sit with you to go over this" training - rather the "dialing in and listening to someone talk while sharing their screen powerpoint presentation" kind of training.

Their catchphrases seem to be "Excellent Question!" and "This is what I call..."

This is what I'd call "by the time the program is installed into my system, I'm not going to remember any of this anyway!" ;)

So far it's been every day this week for two hours - and there are still over 20 more pages to go in the presentation! Good times.

I have posted and have read maybe half of the entries so far! Right now my favorites are Tamaraland and i_17bingo. Both are hilariously funny!! Of course, mine is quite amusing too, so maybe that's just what I'm drawn to.

As far as training goes... I hate that kind of training session.

Freakin' ditto.

The best training session I ever went to was a one-day Token Ring (a network system) class. Everyone else was going, "Slow down! Slow down!", and I was thinking, "Yes! This is EXACTLY the pace I need!"

But mostly, overview and hands-on experimentation are what I'm looking for. With easy-to-find in-depth knowledge if you hit a snag, but for the love of god, please do not slo-mo detail-drudge me for hours (or worse, days) on end.

I think I'd be playing high-speed Spider Solitaire in the background of Gary's training session, just to try to stay awake. :O

Here they were calling that a "knowledge transfer", and that phrasing just rubbed salt in. It was like they thought employees were literal computers, not just folks who worked on computers, and that all we needed for expertise was to FTP the data to a new brain.

I literally cannot focus on that kind of shit for more than a few minutes. I prefer the term "kinetic learner" instead of "daydreamer", myself. ;)

We have a very sick cat on our hands and every non-working minute of the past week has been spent at the vet's, and hand feeding him tiny bits of chicken, and giving him pills, and sitting on the couch crying because, let's face it, he is 14. :(

i think i have an idea? that i might be able to get done at work tomorrow, assuming it's as slow as it was today.... my brain has really, really not been in the game, by which i mean i've been totally distrated by other things i want to write. i only have one bye left, tho, and don't want to use it if i don't need it.

I'm not sure how many entries I've read. I've been reading them, though.

I posted my entry. I know a few like it, but am not sure how everybody will take this one. It is what finally fit the theme and came to me. I had thought of something else, but it was actually related to the word "fun" and dealt with grammar, so I felt it didn't truly fit the theme.

In other news, I have just about 200 pages left in reading Gone with the Wind. That is a long book, but I've wanted to read it being that I had to watch the movie for one of my research papers this past semester.

Also, my dogs and my sister's dog are very cute . . . but that should be a given.
