Season 4, Week 1 Vote!

A few words from clauderainsrm:

The first vote and the "big reveal" of a couple changes for early season 4.

The first change is going to be obvious. You have been put into "tribes". They are more like "weight classes", but come on, "tribes" sounds better!*G* These are based on one factor and one factor only - the size of your friends list. One of the biggest tricks is keeping a sense of urgency up when there is, at last count, a *400 friend* gap between the person in this contest with the largest friends list and the smallest. That doesn't mean that you are going to get that many votes. Heck, sometimes people with the biggest potential pool to pull from the ones who don't actually deliver them to the polls. However, I also want the people with smaller lists to know that they aren't just going to be picked off one by one... in the case of writing journals I factored in the actual journal and went with the higher number for the greatest potential voter pool.

Will this stay this way? No. But it will for the next couple of rounds, until you get used to it, and then I'll throw another monkey wrench or two into the mix.

The biggest question has been "how many people will be eliminated this week?"

The answer is Three. The lowest vote count from EACH OF THE THREE TRIBES WILL BE GOING HOME!.

So just make sure that is not you.

As for the byes, I've said this before - but it needs to be repeated. You see them on the poll, but any votes for them don't count. They are more there for place holders than anything else. It would be too easy to lose them in the shuffle and forget to have them on next week!*g* Anyone who didn't turn in an entry this week has automatically used their first bye, even if they did not declare it. This is my one "trying to be helpful" gesture. A second non-participation does NOT result in a use of the second bye, it's automatic elimination. Not "eligible" for automatic elimination as was the case in the past. Automatic.

So anyway - enough of the talk.

This week was about Childhood memories... hopefully this Season will help create some positive adult ones. But for now, 3 of you are about to have that chance cut short. It's time to start figuring out who that is going to be.

I like this system, although I was surprised to see my name in the last group. I guess I don't pay attention (and so many of my "friends" are abandoned accounts).

So are the tribes fixed? If so, I am going to add that data to my spreadsheets so that future rounds are EASIER to vote (rather than scrolling back and forth).

The only concern that I have about tribes is this. Many people created separate journals for this contest. One in particular has 6 on their Idol journal's friends list, but 325 on their normal journal (275 mutual). Doesn't that kind of skew things a bit?

Guys and gals, I keep seeing a lot of "I'm so nervous!" and "I'm not good enough!" responses. Balls to that, I say. Yes, everyone wants to do well--who doesn't? But man, from everything I've read, just about everyone here can spin a rippin' good yarn. And THAT is the beauty of it. Some have different styles and some might not have found their voices yet, but instead of freaking out over the voting aspect of it, isn't it worlds more rewarding to focus on how much damn FUN you're having?

I'm just saying--perspective, guys! Don't let your nerves rise up and strangle you. :)

And yes, making note of these exceptions for my lists next round...
