Do you hate being given just a little too much freedom? Do you sometimes wish that LJ Idol topics were sometimes a bit more... daring or racy?

Hate and wish no more! A small group is forming to create alternative topics during the "open topic" weeks. The plan is to take suggestions for these topics, have a small vote among those who participated in the last alternative topic, and then agree to use that topic during the next open topic week. Inclusion is purely voluntary, naturally.

To kick things off, founding members srs_bidness and tulip_in_yellow have already chosen the broad topic of "Erotica" for the first open topic. It can be a steamy, heart-racing scene done in earnest or a tongue-in-cheek parody, but whatever it is, we're going for graphic. The kind of post that you have to preface with NSFW. The kind of entry that will make your toes curl and possibly offend genteel sensibilities. So if you've always wanted to write the details of your greatest sexual escapade, or try you hand at slash fic, or whatever... come join us.

The obvious benefit is that you can begin thinking about what you want to write now. You could even have it written before the first open topic week gets here. An informal sign-up sheet has been started in my journal (http://srs-bidness.livejournal.com/1330.html). Tulip and I hope you'll play along with us.

It's blood drive day @ school!

I love giving blood. I haven't done it in forever... bad me. I better do it again soon before I get another tattoo and have to wait forever to be eligible again.

I got turned down one time. Not enough cell-thingies or whatever? I was kind of underweight at the time.

I'm not sure if I'm glad that I have such a busy weekend ahead with my SILs wedding or distressed. I'm going to want to post the link to my poll in my LJ immediately upon it's arrival and check my standings consistently. But it will be a good thing that I'm not because otherwise I'll be going nuts.

Well, I'm still going to be going nuts, but still...

Can I survive this weekend? Can I survive this week? And boy, am I glad that, should I survive it, I don't have to work Monday night so I can do Monday's topic. Not that it's a given that I'll survive this round. Far from it. But a girl can hope. And even if I don't survive it, I'll be able to play the home game. I did that last year, so there's no reason why I can't do it this year, and then...

Yeah, I'd better get to putting this nervous energy into something a bit more useful.

I am sooooooooooooooo glad it's Friday. Been a horrid week at work (and will continue to be horrid weeks until 3/31).

I'm both looking forward to the vote and terribly nervous about it. Am hoping to get more reading done today -- haven't had time since two days ago!

Hm, weekend plans...

I'm presuming I'm returning to work Sunday since that's when our week at begins. I won't actually know until this afternoon, so let's just say that yes, I'm working. The day's a wash.

Tomorrow hubby and I are going to do the "family drop in" visits -- to his parents, his sister/BIL, and possibly another sister, then visit a friend of ours. I'm praying it's going to be a beautiful day so we can take the dogs out for a nice long hike :)

Saturday: sleeping in from a long freakin week, then laundry (and maybe cleaning the house).
Sunday: Getting up at 7:30 to leave for Pittsburgh; sitting in Heinz Field to watch the Steelers beat up on the (surprisingly good/lucky) Cleveland Browns. (My first Steelers game and my boyfriend's birthday present!)

Monday: back to the grind of working 2 jobs. Boo.

My Kentucky Wildcats (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/teams/kaf/schedule) are 1-1 for the season, already. *sigh* They don't play again until Nov 21st.

The Georgetown Hoyas (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/teams/gae/schedule) take on William and Mary tomorrow. That is where I will be.

Good morning! It's Friday, thanks to the gods that we've made it through the firt week of early registration. Now we just have week 2 of that, then regular registration, then late registration, and then...we get to start on summer school!! Somebody shoot me!
