This season I did something I've never done before - I went out and actually talked to folks about what was happening! Usually, I post a link, and people show up! But I wanted to reach a wider audience, and from all of the newbies this season, I'd like to think that worked!

A couple of those people are Idol veterans, and friends, so I expected that they would be engaged. But DBookSharing seemed really engaged, I don't know if it came across in the interview, but she came off (to me) and being *really* interested and excited by what was going on here.

I'm kinda sleepy (going to be napping soon to help that out) and I go back to work this evening, but I'm okay other than that. I asked this in the WR, but I'll ask it here again: do you think that puns, really bad ones, count as a jayus? I'm thinking of doing my entry on a well known Youtuber who uses lots of puns in clever and inventive ways, while still keeping them like really bad jokes, but I need the so what factor.

I'm a little tired, but I've got a cinnamon dolce latte PLUS a free grande coffee (available at Starbucks today when you buy one of their breakfast sandwiches) so hopefully the caffeine will kick in at some point!

Currently at work. After work I am headed to the gym for our Friday afternoon "Hip Hop Hustle" class. After the gym I'm meeting my hubby and some friends at Logan's for dinner. Then home to pray for Jayus inspiration, LOL. Sounds like a full day...

I left the following post in The Work room, but it's so far down that now one may have seen it... so I'm making a copy here.

As I initially had no clue how to approach the current topic, I was advised to "sleep on it". OK, I slept on it. And I've accepted the fact that I'm doomed.

That being said, I have thought of two possible approaches for me, which I will share with everyone to see if they can use them:

(1) A "campy" show that I saw, which was meant to be funny, yet wasn't... and thus, the audience laughed more out of discomfort than anything else.

(2) A situation where a person laughed at the description of a string of misfortunes -- Sort of "I laugh because I dare not cry".

I'm leaning towards the second of these two approaches, though the first is probably closer to the definition of the theme...

Ok, busy weekend ahead, so in the interest of time management, I just went for it and created my entry. Jayus. Good lord. Couldn't we have gotten a softer entry to this season?

I'm off today, since I worked last weekend. My daughter's 10th birthday party is tomorrow - an animal print spa party sleepover of epic proportions. I need to do some serious house cleaning today for that today, including steam cleaning the upstairs hall carpet where my dog has left a few presents recently, ugh.

My son's Pinewood Derby race is Sunday so we have last minute prep on his car to complete - I think my husband will get that honor mostly, because I have balloons to fill and tables to set and fishbowl drinks to prepare!

I've been baking up a storm. We had an unexpected bill and money will be very tight until next payday. So that means LOTS of homemade meals. Also lots of work for me, but at least we're eating!

We have a birthday party to look forward to this weekend, but apart from that, it's Friday night and I'm almost ready for bed. Just finishing an email to a friend and I'll hit the hay.

No precip in The Big City, but the temperature is back down in the 30s after being in the high-40s or Low-50s. OTOH, it's still a *HUGE* improvement over the Polar Vortex temps we had earlier in the season...

Had a few ideas for the prompt, but I don't know when I'll be able to write...probably Sunday or Monday, as this weekend is full of WEDDING FOR A FRIEND. After vacationing last week and this weekend of marital bliss, I am ready to just sit on my butt and idol my face off instead of glancing at it longingly from the distance.

How many hours, on average, do you (everyone) invest in writing for Idol and also reading everyone else's work? I'm second guessing my commitment to it.

Me? You don't want to know.

Other people? It differs. Some folks get super into it, while others devote what they can.

You tend to get whatever level you want to get out of it. If you can't dive in head first, there's no reason not to still write the entries and go as long as you can go. (We've had people in the finals who never went into a single Green Room or did much commenting to other people. They gave what they could give, and people seemed to understand that.)
