I'm really hoping that the series of interviews that I've given for LJ Idol this season have actually generated some buzz and attracted new writers into the fold! It's kind of difficult to track who came from where at times, but if you found out about Idol via one of those interviews, definitely let me know!

Hey guys, tonithegreat asked a good question in yesterday's GR a few minutes ago, but therefore at the bottom of the room.

Here was my answer:

Traditionally I've just kept a simple spreadsheet with the contestants' names down the side and the weeks at the top and a bunch of Yesses and Nos whether I voted for that entry.

A mini-season or so ago, I also started tracking whether or not I commented on their entry, because I wanted to get better at commenting, and I wanted a metric so I'd know if I'd improved. I have also been known to jot notes so I'd remember someone or the subject of an entry if it stood out for some reason.

There are people who have been known to keep up with who is in which tribe, and whether someone has used all their byes or if they get a special power or what round each person is eliminated in. I don't necessarily need all that, but due to poll wonkiness (which I explain in my Intro post), it's really a good idea to at least keep a list of who you're voting for, and a spreadsheet makes that easy.

Also, I have a terrible memory, and weeeeeeeeks from now, toward the end of the season, someone's going to ask, "What are the memorable posts that you enjoyed?" or someone's going to say, "Which post of mine represented me the most, in your opinion?" and if I don't have notes, it takes forever for me to participate in that kind of conversation.

Thanks to the wonkiness that is LJ, I haven't been able to respond to anything without a battle since yesterday morning. Sometimes I don't even see replies even though I know they're there. Not here, but on my friends page.

I was told that LJ recently did one of those releases, so that could account for it. Something about now being able to cross post photos from Instagram or something, I think.

Namely, your soon to be ex husband? Lol! This is an important thing to stand your ground on, if you know it's the right choice for you. I left a bad marriage several years ago myself. There were definitely some detractors, but you are the one who has to wake up next to that man every day, not them.

Or, y'know, I got home at three am thinking I could sleep until 11am and nope, my roommate woke me up before six because my ex needs to get ready for work.

I hate the entire world right now because godforfucking bid someone in this damn household actually communicate with me directly instead of through others.

I am standing up for breakfast! Waffles, bacon, hash browns, strawberries, hot chocolate, the works!

I just got some Maple Applesauce and I really think its going to taste good on waffles, unfortunately I don't have time to make waffles this morning, so cereal it is and then off to work to teach 3 and 4 year old preschool. Today is take them swimming day, which is always just a little bit crazy. But much fun will be had!

I try to pick my battles wisely. Things are good at the moment so I'm not putting my foot down about anything today, other than the fact I have to wash and fold six loads of laundry on my day off.

I think we should become nudists. Then laundry would be nothing but a sock basket!

But maybe I will stand my ground that you should never walk up to a cashier who doesn't have a customer at the moment and say "you look lonely/must be bored/look like you need something to do/etc etc!" You only know that I don't have a customer right now. You don't know how long I've been standing there. You don't know if someone just walked away from me seconds ago. You don't know if this is only a momentary lull in an otherwise hectic day. (This has actually happened to me, and really, when you've had constant lines for two hours and you finally have thirty seconds to breath, hearing "I wouldn't want you to get bored!" is just insulting.)

You don't know that checking out your groceries is, in fact, unimaginably tedious, and I'm going to be bored, anyway. So please don't say it. I've heard it a million times, and it stopped being cute and funny a long time ago, and while I will smile and laugh, anyway, because it's my job to smile and be friendly, maybe it won't be a fake smile if you don't start out our transaction being condescending.

Oooookay, apparently I needed to get more off my chest than I anticipated. I'm going to go make lunch now.

I am standing my ground that I will be productive today. Yesterday ended up being a do-nothing day. My motivation must have gotten up and walked out in the middle of the night. Today, I will get things done! I'm at the church office right now and have already accomplished something - I proofed some printouts for Sunday. Next on the list is to write an email with ideas ahead of a Sunday morning meeting. We have less than an hour to meet and I'm hoping by getting some of the brainstorming out to everyone now we can jump in instead of wasting a whole lot of time.

I have exciting plans for tomorrow - going to the zoo for a friend's birthday!
