It's so nice to see so many old friends back in the fold, and especially to see a lot of them eager to play one more time!

Seeing people mentioned, and the appearing, summoned by the power of the Internet, got me thinking. If YOU had the power to "cast" this season, bringing back some of your favorites (especially if they are folks who might not get the attention they deserve. Oh, like bettybaker or alexpgp for example. They really should be an Idol-household names) who would they be, and why?

In this scenario, they are completely flattered by your words and unable to resist the compulsion to play Idol.

For that matter, who (to the best your knowledge) HASN'T played, but needs to join in on the fun?

I talked about Michael Sam the other day, the "first openly gay" NFL player.

He had a lackluster combine (it's the day when all the prospects get together and have tests to show scouts that they are worth hiring). Which means his draft position isn't going to be very good.

That does hurt his draft prospects, but there is talent there.

The dragons are in the corner, playing chess for the honor of controlling the remote for the tv. Our Congenial Host's lair is in the back there, protected by the land mines. Be sure not to pick up the duck. The duck is a trap. The coffee and other choices of caffeine delivery method are over there in the kitchen. Here are some earplugs - the clacking from the thousands of monkeys on their typewriters can get a little deafening at times. All manner of silliness and seriousness not only tolerated but encouraged. *hands you a cookie* Welcome. :)

I'd be pretty excited to see supremegoddess1 return, though I'm sure plenty are put off by her strong personality.

I'll be playing this season, since it's the last.

I'll be playing as p_m_cryan, this time, not as norda, which was my original LJ handle, nor as n_maranda_coy, which I created after one of the seasonal knockdown-dragouts about large friendslists.

As far as alts versus pseudonyms: I understand why some folks like to create alts; however, it's not my thing, particularly multiple alts for the same player. I can't explain why I find it distasteful, but I do. Your mileage may vary.

I personally think it's awesome if someone wants to play under two accounts, as long as they are down to just one by the top 50, but it is far too much work for the likes of me!

I just realized that this will be my first time playing with my Shabbat social media sabbaticals. From sundown Friday until sundown on Saturday, I abstain from using Facebook, Twitter, LJ and my book review blog. I'm curious about how this will impact my game... although I think on the whole it will be good for my mental health. And for my family relations.

But it does mean that if we have Friday or Saturday deadlines, I can't wait until the last minute to write my entry!

There are definitely some writers who are your favorites, I can tell!

I'm less excited about a few of them, because while they wrote very well, they tended not to comment on other people's entries and sometimes not even respond to comments on their own entries. That's the social part of the game that makes Idol more or less fun, I think, so I tend to weight that pretty heavily, I'll admit.

I know I haven't been very social lately (a glance at my journal will show why, though). But I am planning to come back for S9. I'll hate myself for it, I know it, but it's the last season! How could I miss it?

I have some people I have tried to coerce into playing before and they have yet to do it. I'd still like to see them in the game. ;)

I would love to have java_fiend back because I've really missed him, and whipchick and karmasoup were hugely encouraging.

Our every-morphing player would be nice too, though he says he's done with it. But there's still time. :)

I will forever be grateful to LJI for giving a bigger platform to my late little buddy Kitty Michaels. He was proud of his multiple LJI victories.

I have three new kitties since he and Grey Cat passed in 2012. Moose, Tobi and BB. BB is also a black cat and her personality is eerily similar to his, though she's still too young a flighty to have any interest in journaling. She seems to dig Instagram, though.
