There's snow on the ground and my kid went to school 1 out of 5 days this week because of it and my car finally quit.

But it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm buying a car, goddamnit, if I have anything to say about it. AND I am going to see my family on Sunday and partake in destroying a wonderfully awesome gingerbread house my aunts made and enjoy good pizza, yes.

I AM GOING TO HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND LA LA LA NO ONE CAN STOP MEEEE.

I think the high is going to be like...18 degrees, today? Wednesday morning when I left work it was 3 degrees outside, and it didn't get much warmer than that, all day.

I'm tired of feeling like I'm walking into the freezer at work when I step outside. Gah.

The new car is a mixed blessing -- I super need it, but I also need the money more for other reasons. But I can't keep working/find a better job without transportation, so... yeah. *sigh*

The weather is pretty right now but downright fucking cold, I can't stand it lol.

I have a book signing at a wine and tapas kind of bar on Saturday night! I'm excited but worried that incoming snow will mess with people coming out. Ergo, I get lousy attendance or they have to reschedule. I don't want to do this if only six people come and one is my mother and the other is my hub. I'm not an attention white, but this is supposed to be book publicity, ya know?

This weekend I'm looking forward to trying a new restaurant here in town, Tom & Chee (http://www.tomandchee.com/menu/), home of the grilled cheese donut! It's basically a grilled cheese & tomato soup place, with ridiculously delicious sounding combinations!!

I'm also hoping the weather will finally warm up, as it has been pretty close to 0 degrees F around here, with negative wind chills. Fortunately, we have very little snow on the ground, maybe an inch or two, but still - *brrrrrr*.

Had to scrape a lot of ice off my car this morning, which only happens once or twice a year, if that; I don't think I had to do it at all last year! I live in Houston - I don't have an ice scraper, so I have to use an expired credit card. Good times. I'm just glad I don't live downtown - the number of wrecks due to icy roads was crazy. Texans and ice don't mix!

Of course, the high on Sunday is 70, so... ;)

My last weekend will sound more exciting than this one coming up, seeing as I went to Legoland Malaysia and stayed in their hotel last weekend, but this weekend should be good too. I've got the husband taking the kids out so I have uninterrupted time to finish a short story for the anthology of speculative fiction I'm putting together. If I have time, I'll also fix up the remaining formatting I need to do, and the editing, but I probably won't have time for all of it.

Tomorrow I have yoga and I'm only really going because I paid upfront for 8 sessions. The first two killed me, and the 3rd almost did at the start, but then by the end I was like, "Oh, it's finished?" So we'll see. Then they're having a talk on meditation that I'll stay for, before coming home and organising food for anyone who decides to come to our Australia Day event.

Oh, and I also need to go over my stand-up routine because I'm performing on Tuesday night for the first time since September and I only have 5 minutes.

Good luck with your stand-up routine!! I think 5 minutes would seem like a lot of time to me, but then again I'm not that funny (I'm great with one-liners, but that's about it).

Heh, well, this will be me cutting a 12-15 minute routine down to picking the 5 minutes I want to use on the night. Not all of it is needed for the main part of what I want to say, but I do want to add some things about my trip to South Africa.
