A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:

I haven’t been shy about my back and forth feelings about Exhibit B. But after reading these two entries, I’ve got to say that it’s ending on one gigantic high note.

If I could make them both the winners, I could. But alas, that power is in the hands of the voters, who will ultimately make that decision!

Since they finished early, I will be putting the poll up early as well! Given the birthday festivities, I wasn’t sure when a good time would be to close the poll, so I mapped out that it would be open longer than usual. After reading these entries, I’m glad for that - that gives people more time to follow the various links that each of them have included in their finale intersection!

This time it’s for real - one person will be eliminated, and one will be named the WINNER OF EXHIBIT B!

The poll will close Tuesday, October 1st at 8pm EDT.

Good luck to both of you!

GIGANTIC high note.

I had to vote for both.

Wow. Best season ending ever, I think.

A great way to end the season. The best news is, no matter who wins, you know it's going to be a talented writer who really deserves it.

Was the "veteran" involved in Season 8? If the Exhibits don't "count" as time served, does that mean if someone came in during the Exhibits that they're a newbie in Season 9?

From: [identity profile] lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com
The idea that I'm a "veteran" of Idol seems very silly to me indeed. I still feel like a newbie! But I did participate in Season 8 and Exhibit A, so I guess that totally makes me one. Heh.

I couldn't remember if you were in Season 8 (and was too lazy to look for my spreadsheet). I was thinking you started in Exhibit A.

Yeah, I started in Second Chance Idol in Season 8, got to the top 10, repeated the feat in Exhibit A, and uh, tada!

"Oooh, an LTWFTW."

Of course at this point, I have no business playing the "newb" card, no matter how much weird Idol temporal displacement I generate. ;-)

LTWFTW?

live to work for the win
love that woman freeing the walrus
little thermos with fresh tasting water
labor talks with freshness thank workers
licensed therapists wield feather thin weapons
lifetime women follow television weeping

Help a girl out here.

Just wondering, but it it ends up a tie, will there be a tie breaker?

From: [identity profile] porn-this-way.livejournal.com
It's tied right now! This is seriously the best finale ever.

I dunno what Gary would actually do, but if it's "in the hands of the voters," I would think he'd abide by a tie if the world declared it so. And y'know, given the whole point of the Exhibits (and Gary's related mischief), it would kinda keep with the theme if it really did tie.

Of course, my ability to predict Gary this season is a whopping 0.00%. So, please accept this complimentary grain of salt. :-)

So, please accept this complimentary grain of salt.

So, my brain immediately took that and imagined a tiny grain of salt sitting on top of a shaker, saying, "You're looking lovely today!"

Yes. I hope I sleep tonight. My brain is SCARY right now.

If there were a tie-breaker, this would start to feel like the (mini) season that never ends. Besides, I have an idea we could probably intersect on again... ;)

OKAy, so, disclaimer, I just got home from the bar (lol after school drinking for the epic win) and...holy hell. This finale is EPIC. Like, epic epicness of epic proportions. Both of you fuckers are so crazy talented it's not even real.

Cislyn - you're a fucking BOSS, and I've been in absolute awe of you this season.

Sea - I'm so glad you're here. You're a badass writer, and by all available evidence, seem to be a badass humanoid specimen as well.

I am failing at words right now (helloooo vanilla vodka!) so I'll just leave it at "holy fuck, this finale rules!" and be on my merry way. ♥ ♥ ♥

*grins* Thank you. And thank you also for all your help, support and silliness this season. I'm really thrilled with what we came up with. And if our destruction/creation goes down in Idol history as the finale to try to top because it was so awesome, then that's a win all around no matter what!

Epic comment is epic! And really flattering. And seeing the response to this collaboration is beyond heartwarming -- as C says, making something Idol-historic or Idol-definitive is a huge win. :-)

Unrelated: I made a vodka infusion with cucumber and mint, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what to use it in. Let me know if you have any suggestions? (Doesn't have to be here, you can drop me a line via note or some such.)

Fancy schmancy places that serve rich ladies tiny sandwiches put cucumber in water. It might be good just in a glass of water.

*Gllllrgggh*

This brings back terrible memories of my mother's Cold Cucumber Soup, which she fixated on back in the late 70s. It involved pureed cucumber and mint, and given that both my sister and I hate cucumbers already... *shudders*

I only finally got out of eating it the day that it would not go down, and instead tried to come back up.

Why? WHY?

Date: 2013-09-30 06:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anyonesghost.livejournal.com
Well, since you asked,

(a) I had cucumbers left over from the harvest and subsequent making of homemade pickles;
(b) I had mint left over, because mint never goes away;
(c) I don't advocate flavored vodkas, but I'll accept infusions;
(d) The garlic-basil vodka infusion I made first worked fantastically for penne alla vodka;
(e) While I don't try to push flavors on anyone, I would suggest that your distaste isn't the fault of the cucumber or the mint. They're flavors that already work well together in dips and marinades, and a lot of higher-end restaurants use the pairing.

But, if it'll make you'll feel better, I'll make a vodka-pepto bismol infusion next? ;-)

From: [identity profile] porn-this-way.livejournal.com
Vodka pepto seems like the same sort of paradoxal mad science as weed brownies. Or perhaps it's more of an infinite loop sort of thing than a paradox. Consume brownies, get munchies, consume brownies. Drink vodka, need pepto, drink vodka. I realize this was not a serious suggestion, but it's still quite intriguing!

From: [identity profile] anyonesghost.livejournal.com
As you can see, I come by those temporal paradoxes in my writing pretty naturally. :-)

<SCIENCE!>
Pepto is not something which can be used for a legitimate infusion, because it is a chemical (rather than organic) compound. The active ingredient, bismuth subsalicylate, could in theory be combined with vodka (and presumably some cherry flavoring -- grenadine appeals here) in order to create the intoxicating and yet stomach-soothing effect.

Problem is, bismuth subsalicylate actually builds up in your system and causes damage over time. So for anyone worried about their health, this particular bit of snake oil will ultimately do more harm than good.

Fun fact: bismuth subsalicylate leaves behind a metal slag when lit with a blow torch! Which means, if you make a pepto-vodka flaming shot and you time it just right, I bet you could swallow a liquid and then leave behind metal.

And if we go into a run-off poll, I totally know what I'm writing about next time.

I don't know whether to be alarmed or impressed at the amount of thought you've put into this. Actually, let's just go for impressed.

And now all I can think of is a "Flaming Moe" with Krusty cough syrup as the secret ingredient, and wonder whether such a concoction is (in theory only, of course!) more or less hazardous to your health.

Actually, I--

On second thought, let's not "impress" any more today. ;-) It's just one of those long work-days where discussions like this are a cool and refreshing mental diversion from [the things I do].
