[Poll #1935988]
I haven’t been shy about my back and forth feelings about Exhibit B. But after reading these two entries, I’ve got to say that it’s ending on one gigantic high note.
If I could make them both the winners, I could. But alas, that power is in the hands of the voters, who will ultimately make that decision!
Since they finished early, I will be putting the poll up early as well! Given the birthday festivities, I wasn’t sure when a good time would be to close the poll, so I mapped out that it would be open longer than usual. After reading these entries, I’m glad for that - that gives people more time to follow the various links that each of them have included in their finale intersection!
This time it’s for real - one person will be eliminated, and one will be named the WINNER OF EXHIBIT B!
The poll will close Tuesday, October 1st at 8pm EDT.
Good luck to both of you!

Date: 2013-09-28 12:16 am (UTC)So, my brain immediately took that and imagined a tiny grain of salt sitting on top of a shaker, saying, "You're looking lovely today!"
Yes. I hope I sleep tonight. My brain is SCARY right now.

Date: 2013-09-29 10:45 pm (UTC)This is a special exception though, given that it's a mini season with a duo theme and not a precedent for anything in the future.

Date: 2013-09-27 11:25 pm (UTC)Cislyn - you're a fucking BOSS, and I've been in absolute awe of you this season.
Sea - I'm so glad you're here. You're a badass writer, and by all available evidence, seem to be a badass humanoid specimen as well.
I am failing at words right now (helloooo vanilla vodka!) so I'll just leave it at "holy fuck, this finale rules!" and be on my merry way. ♥ ♥ ♥

Date: 2013-09-28 06:45 pm (UTC)Unrelated: I made a vodka infusion with cucumber and mint, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what to use it in. Let me know if you have any suggestions? (Doesn't have to be here, you can drop me a line via note or some such.)

Date: 2013-09-30 04:38 pm (UTC)This brings back terrible memories of my mother's Cold Cucumber Soup, which she fixated on back in the late 70s. It involved pureed cucumber and mint, and given that both my sister and I hate cucumbers already... *shudders*
I only finally got out of eating it the day that it would not go down, and instead tried to come back up.
Why? WHY?

Date: 2013-09-30 06:43 pm (UTC)(a) I had cucumbers left over from the harvest and subsequent making of homemade pickles;
(b) I had mint left over, because mint never goes away;
(c) I don't advocate flavored vodkas, but I'll accept infusions;
(d) The garlic-basil vodka infusion I made first worked fantastically for penne alla vodka;
(e) While I don't try to push flavors on anyone, I would suggest that your distaste isn't the fault of the cucumber or the mint. They're flavors that already work well together in dips and marinades, and a lot of higher-end restaurants use the pairing.
But, if it'll make you'll feel better, I'll make a vodka-pepto bismol infusion next? ;-)

Date: 2013-09-30 09:22 pm (UTC)<SCIENCE!>
Pepto is not something which can be used for a legitimate infusion, because it is a chemical (rather than organic) compound. The active ingredient, bismuth subsalicylate, could in theory be combined with vodka (and presumably some cherry flavoring -- grenadine appeals here) in order to create the intoxicating and yet stomach-soothing effect.
Problem is, bismuth subsalicylate actually builds up in your system and causes damage over time. So for anyone worried about their health, this particular bit of snake oil will ultimately do more harm than good.
Fun fact: bismuth subsalicylate leaves behind a metal slag when lit with a blow torch! Which means, if you make a pepto-vodka flaming shot and you time it just right, I bet you could swallow a liquid and then leave behind metal.
And if we go into a run-off poll, I totally know what I'm writing about next time.</SCIENCE!>

Date: 2013-09-30 09:48 pm (UTC)And now all I can think of is a "Flaming Moe" with Krusty cough syrup as the secret ingredient, and wonder whether such a concoction is (in theory only, of course!) more or less hazardous to your health.
