Who will be still on the ride when it remerges from the tunnel? Who will have had their straps “accidentally” cut and end up flying through the air to their certain doom?

Can't wait to see! I'm really enjoying reading along to this miniseason, even though I, personally, had to drop out from writing.

It is fun to see some of my favorite writers still in the competition and some new ones show up on my radar.

Back to the grindstone for me. I have a mushy (sick?) two year old curled up at my side who is not going to be happy when I leave for depositions this afternoon.

I like roller coasters, but I'm not a big fan of the sort where you're hanging, rather than seated in a traditional car. Bleh!

I love coasters, but in my old age, I don't do the loopy ones much anymore. For some reason, those big harnesses don't mix well with my tiny head, and I wind up getting my head bounced around back and forth so much that it hurts :(

Drove up to a lake in the Adirondacks in NY for the week. I have spent the past 2 1/2 days playing in the water. Maybe all the exercise will balance out all the great food! I am happy I got to come up with the family to hang out with my parents and sisters.

Um. So I just got back from the bar. AGAIN. But but but...I have a reason this time, other than just being an insufferable lush! Today was the first day teachers had to report back to work to prep for the new school year, aaaand...I just found out that I got the GT and AP (Gifted\Talented and Advanced Placement) kids this year. I am BEYOND stoked, like super psyched crazy excited. One of my coworkers took me out drinking to celebrate. And now I am here, being a drunken fool in the GR once more, but I don't care because life is awesome. THE END.

Thaaaank yooouuu!! I'm suddenly extremely excited about this school year. Not only do I have the GT kids now, but our ball-busting principal left and the lady replacing him is apparently really awesome. She was an assistant principal at one of the other schools in the district last year, and anecdotal reports of her leadership-ness are extremely favorable.

My big accomplishment today was sending off two stories today to two different markets - Asimov's and Analag. I've got a very slim chance of getting into either, but the rejection letters I've gotten from them in the past have been nice, so why not. I figure I'll exhaust all the super awesome pro markets first, and then start flogging things around to the semi-pro places. Sloooowly. I swear, writing cover letters is a kind of torture.

In other news, I now want to go on a proper roller coaster (and not just sit and refresh refresh refresh the Idol poll). I haven't been on one in ages and I kind of miss it. Whoooooosh!

Recently, two very suspicious people were spotted at the Chicago Field Museum.

Are these pictures proof of the existence of The Neon Avenger (aka porn_this_way) and some other, mysterious Idoler bent on causing mischief? Or an elaborate hoax?! You decide!

Hrm... Most unusual! And this next picture, is it a strange incantation caught mid-gesture? Or just how two dorks respond when someone tells them to be fierce? The world will never know!
