[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] therealljidol
Good afternoon.

I was going to post earlier today, but I wanted a chance to catch up with most of the entries first.

Wow, there is some talent out there. This season is going to be tough!

Not to mention HUGE!! Has all of LJ signed up for this season yet?*g* Or are the rest waiting until Friday.

Don't forget to post your Topic 0 posts at: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/69885.html

and most important, remember to go there to READ other people's posts. Like I said, there are some really great ones. Some have been mentioned by other people, and a lot of them haven't yet (there are some REAL surprises for me for people that I already have my eye on who *haven't* gotten more attention...)

and sign up to play this season:

If you have any questions, be sure to check out the FAQ: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/67483.html

I'm asking "veterans" to step up and help some of the "newbies" figure things out. The smoother the process is now, the more fun it will be once we officially get started!

Have a great day!

I've never seen this contest before. As a pure voyeur, the only thing
> that would make this better would be to have these people put their
> entries in here instead of posting links. That way people like me can
> just read all the wonderful entries in one place instead of having to
> click through to each individual journal. I will no doubt not read them all that way. :(

> What a fun idea though, I love reading random people!

Oh, I'm looking at something far more epic than that. Something like Team Trotsky or T-Emo

Are you going to play, or just watch (and maybe play the "home game")?

I think I'll play the home game this time around. Watch for sure.

I'll likely play next round. But I really think my awesome suggestion should be implemented. Heh.

That is much appreciated that you appreciate the appreciating or the appreciation.

Wait... WHAT!?!

BLOO!

Many thanks

I don't question locked journals, but I always like hearing insights. My qualm as it was was purely on the idea of wanting locked entries for a public contest.

I see the thought behind it, especially with Belenen's comment, but I still find it to be a bit...silly.

There's HATE for me all over the net, including Encyclopedia. Somehow I don't get the hateful comments very often...actually haven't gotten one in forever.

I feel for your friend though.
From: [identity profile] lordrexfear.livejournal.com
That is very true...

but now I feel like I should write about picking my nose.

I should have a twitter.

That was a yellow one.

Holy fuck that thing didn't want to come out.

There was nothing in there, but it's like a habit ya know?

Manipulation is fantastic... just hope those manipulated don't try to go behind your back and spread lies or get some told to you.

Or whatever... isn't that how drama works?

Thanks.

I wouldn't be as brutal as you here of course.

Let people do what they do and enjoy it and I can continue to question it. But none of this "get out" stuff...

It's like when someone says "I hate this band" and goes to their concert and then instead of saying "oh wait... no I don't", just keeping expelling their hatred.

Those people gotta go!

Well, no, actually you would just watch this community if you heard about it on your friends page and it was something interesting to you to read, like I did.

People who wanted to ensure that their friends read could always do the reverse and put the link to what they wrote in their journal, or even double post.

I'm actually just being selfish. I have very bad tendonitis, and clicking the mouse is extremely difficult for me, so I will NEVER read all of these entries, whereas if they were in a place that showed up on my friends page, I would never MISS one!

You can use the "notify" link to have entry links e-mailed to you...

Thanks, I guess we agree to disagree. I can't figure out a way in my head where this set up turns out to be better, even having to follow and request link notifications via email and go clicking on through all the time is a lot of extra work to be able to read what's out there.

At any rate, I'm really sorry I opened my mouth now. Heh. Good luck with it one way or the other. As I stated from the get-go, neat idea.

Sorry to have troubled you.

Sorry, I had one last thought.

You said "Going outward from a central hub, and getting people
to explore what is out there, that's a part of what this is all about.
"

I was under the impression this was a voting type contest, and that is also where I was thinking that readers who were required to vote, should at the least be sure they are reading everything that they need to vote on in order to be fair. Having to do all that clicking around and stuff pretty much guarantees that nobody is really ever going to read all of the posts, and that, I think, is what bothers me about the setup because people will get left out.

Wow I'm an opinionated voyeur. I'm going back to my window now. LOL!

Jennie's FL=60. No one cares (or even reads any more, I don't think), so no one comes to vote for anyone. :)
From: [identity profile] wildcatwrites.livejournal.com
Speaking only for myself...I have an actual real life stalker...who has created a dummy journal just to watch my public entries...and other people that I simply don't wish to have read personal info...so I created a writing journal where I can have public entries. (that is in no way attached to my real journal)

If someone wants to friend me from there I'm not opposed...I really wanted to join mostly just to see if I could write on topic every week (mostly for myself) but I do have serious (legitimate) concerns about who reads.
