What did you end up doing this weekend?

Anything fun?

I started (and finished) season 3 of The Traitors US.  With Rob Cesternino (Survivor) and Kristen Kish (Top Chef) being in Scotland filming season 4 right now, I thought it was a good time to catch up!

I also finished the new season of Top Chef. Which may have had me crying a bit at the finale.  Maybe.  Or maybe you were the one who was crying.  Yes, that seems more likely!   ;)

Speaking of crying - the first prompt is up:  therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1184469.html

The Sign Up Sheet is still open as well: therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1182845.html

I'm going to warn you ahead of time that the poll for Week 1 is going to not come out right away.  Not only does the first poll usually take more time to set up, I also have an unexpected funeral to attend that day.  One of my coworkers from my previous job passed away. I'm just glad that I received multiple messages from people who wanted to make sure that I knew. That was very kind of them to reach out.

and yes, "The Wheelhouse" is the "special event" version of the Green Room, for those more use to that name. A lot of special events have their own specific gathering place names, and I just liked this one.

Gary, very sorry to hear about your coworker!

For me, it was a good weekend. I had a pleasant dinner at one of my favorite places to eat with the rest of the fam to celebrate father's day. I finished The Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig, a book [personal profile] halfshellvenus recommended. I just started reading The Devil in the Marshalsea by Antonia Hodgson, and so far am enjoying it quite a bit.

I've been toying with several ideas related to this week's prompt, but so far none of them appeals to me. Inspiration, I need ...

Dan

How did you finish Staircase In The Woods so fast? Did you actually read a Braille copy? Or is this the cheaterpants method of listening to audiobooks? *wink*

Hahaha, audio book all the way. There's actually a much wider selection of books in audio format verses braille, although with Kindle I can do either. Given the fact that I used to have to scan in books by hand though, I tend to consider audio books to be my just reward! (grin)

So sorry about your former coworker.

Oddly, as many Food Network/cooking competitions that I watch, Top Chef hasn’t been one of them. Tournament of Champions is my favorite (blind tasting/judging FTW). I do enjoy The Traitors, and am all caught up.

Otherwise, this weekend has mostly been working on editing, housework, laundry, and watching “24 in 24” (cooking competition). Still pondering the topic.

My city does a "live on stage" cooking competition as a charity fundraiser every year. It's quite fun to watch :) Mystery baskets of ingredients, etc.

I can't imagine cooking with a timer and people chanting down the last 10 seconds like they do at the live competition. I get stressed for the cooks :)

I slept. That was the extent of my fun, lol. I spent a lot of time doing administrative work for my sorority. My to-do list is mostly to-done (hahah), but what remains is stuff that has to be done weekly and monthly to keep the sorority running and to start us off smoothly when the fall semester starts in August.

Then today I went to church, and when I got home, I slept more. I did more sorority work and finally got to a place where I can do my creative writing. I got to write for about 4 hours on various original pieces and many more fannish works.

Hi. Gary, sorry you have to attend a funeral. Not fun.
It was a good weekend. I went to a Juneteenth/black music appreciation month celebration at the college where I work. There were four bands featuring musicians from the area. It was really fun.
Saturday night I went to see Steve Earl in concert. He's one of my favorite Americana artists. It was an acoustic show. He told lots of stories abourt his life and played music chronologically from his 50 year career.
Yesterday I just relaxed. Now it's back to work.

Sounds like fun. Live music can be a such a different experience than simply playing a song on Youtube.

I go to as many live shows as I can. We have some pretty good small venues fairly close.

So sorry for your loss, Gary.

Since I'm already in full chaos mode, this should all work out very well... or not. ;-)

Sorry to hear about your coworker; that's a real bummer.

I did end up making that cake this weekend, although I think I overmixed or overbaked or something because it was very stodgy. Still delicious!

I also discovered that my car has an anti-theft mechanism that disabled my ignition if I accidentally put my key in the washing machine, which I did.

LOL. I could NOT figure out what that clunking sound coming from the laundry room was yesterday. Yep, the fob. Full blown panic, but then discovered it had a gasket, so crisis averted!

My fob was completely waterlogged, haha. I popped it open to look at the battery and it was just full of water. No wonder it wasn't unlocking the door!

Interestingly, it seems my car recognized the fob wasn't working and disabled my ignition, even having the key in; however, my spare fob that has never worked for remote entry is able to get the car going.

I'm also a bit confused as to why a theoretical car thief would steal my key and then waterlog it before trying to steal my car, but I guess I'm glad to know that won't happen.

True to form, I worked all weekend. I'm finally on vacation this week, whee!

We recently purchased a brand new shiny steel fridge with French doors and the freezer on the bottom. Haven't started filling it up with the stuff that we moved to the basement freezer. There is SO MUCH ROOM it's mind boggling. How do people organize a fridge like this?!?

Your fridge sounds similar to ours. You'll find that, even though you have more room, you'll fill it fast and wonder where to put things! At least that's the way it is in our house.
Have a good vacation!

I bought a lazy susan as well as a few different sized plastic containers to keep everything neat. I just wish there were more ways to adjust the shelving. I'm shocked as to how little we have in there. Everything filled the old side by side fridge to the brim!

Yeah. I don't like the shelving configuration in our fridge at all. But we can'really change it much.

As per my entry, I attended a Celebration of life. It was very moving. Today while sitting here in the hair salon waiting, I just heard that “Fields of Gold” song they preformed at the service. That's my sign that “M” was grateful for MernaidFan’s and my presence at the event.

Waiting for that bolt of lightning.

Sorry about your coworker. Funerals seem to be a thing of the past out here on the West Coast. It's always a Celebration of Life several months later...

My weekend was filled with pool partying young adults.

I'm so sorry to hear about your coworker. Thank goodness there were people who thought to let you know.

So far, I'm feeling "meh" on the prompt. And out of practice-- on Friday, I completely forgot that we had something new to right, so I didn't even start as early as I could have.

Auspicious the homeless man's rehab I went to is very famous locally and is known as The Wheelhouse.

I'm doing okay I got drunk a couple times in the last few months I'm trying to wrap my head on whether I consider that a full-fledged relapse or just need to pretend so when I'm in the rooms of AA.

I'm leaning toward it is cuz I drank enough I eventually had to deal with withdrawals again which was no bueno.

On the fun side I've got a couple irons in the fire I will announce later but things are looking slightly better if I can just make it to the end of the month.
