Green Room - Week 10 - Day 4

I’m not sure what was the “social faux pas of the weekend”, so I’m putting it out there to get some feedback.

Was it:

1. My excited fist pump accompanied by “I KNEW IT!! I knew he was transgendered!” upon learning that someone that I had only seen in photographs (an ex of someone that I know) was transgendered, which I totally called after only seeing a couple pictures. (for some reason, he reminded me of an old friend of mine, who also is. I had mentioned it once, in passing, and had been told that I was wrong.)

2. Wearing my Survivor t-shirt “Outwit, Outplay, Outlast” to the Holocaust museum. I had it on before we decided to visit, and by the time it registered, it was too late to go back and change.


What was YOURS? I’m sure you have one.

Ouch, Gary...I dunno, if it were me, I think I would have been more embarrassed about the Survivor t-shirt. The fist pumpihg? In public, not everybody would know/realize the reason why you did that...? But yeah, the reason is one of those "Um...whoops" type of deals :erk:

The fist pumping was in a small group - but I interrupted the story that she was telling about her ex, when she mentioned his surgery... to go "surgery?" she explained that he was having his breasts removed and I then proceeded to do the fist pumping and exclamation that I had been right! :)

I apologized, over and over again... and she seemed to understand that, ultimately, I just enjoy being right! :)

Does it count if the social faux pas happens TO you? Because I'm fairly certain that my recently-arrested junkie neighbor hitting me up for a threesome ranks right up there.

The only other thing I've got right now is that it's probably a good thing I dropped when I did because I've got the Work Schedule From Hell this week. My next day off is sometime next weekend, I think...

And yesterday I was thinking, if I were still playing, I'd probably be panicking like holy hell about this intersection because I would've been offline more than not. Like, today would be the only day I'd have to work on my entry. I hate doing rush jobs. I really do.

I'm in no position to point fingers, because at least you were aware of your social faux pas (what's the plural of faux pas?). I'm often clueness until someone points them out.

Along the lines of the T-shirt, I once went with a Jewish friend to a coffee house. We were delighted to discover that there was a band playing and sat down to listen. Within a couple songs, it became clear it was a Christian rock band. We waited for an appropriate gap in the proceedings (it was poorly attended, and our exit would have been noticed), and then slipped out. Once outside, we both dissolved into helpless laughter upon learning that I was wearing the T-shirt for David Bowie's newest album... "Heathen."

Hahaha! That's great! As a Jewish person I'm not opposed to Christian music, a d even sometimes go to church with my BFF. Some of the songs are quite pretty.

Our biggest news for this weekend was trading in our 2002 Focus hatchback for a 2010 Focus four-door. I joked that it's my husband's birthday present (which was Thursday), because due to planning the huge family vacation of two weeks ago and the joint 70th birthday party for my parents, I hadn't had time to get him one.

Before you tell me that I'm a bad wife, KFP and I did stop in a grocery store and get him some cute cards and some cake. And... a new (used) car!!!!

not this weekend.. but I was at a dinner party, and we were talking about how languages spread across the world. After discussing a little with my Czech friend, I turned to my German dinner partner and said 'German's not that wide spread. Didn't you invade anyone?'

I don't think I made any huge blunders this weekend, most of it was spent at home or at a friend's home, with the exception of the 5.5 hours I was with the hubby at the ER. But I got a decent draft done on my entry and my partner has looked it over. It should be ready to post later this evening with a few minor revisions, yay!

I went to a Star Trek party on Fri PM. Impossible to socially f-up there unless I said the show sux, which it doesn't, so I didn't, so I had fun hanging out.
On Sat. I had a major iPhoto fail, but luckily got everything restored. I even did a little clean up and some eliminations of my own kind. Also played " Save It Or Shove It with my kid in her bedroom. Made it to the bonus round inside her closet. W00t!!!!
Worked around my house all day yesterday and made a real Sunday dinner last night! Fish, green beans, corn, banana bread and salad. Real nice.

Hahahahaha DEFINITELY the survivor shirt!! One of my dorm buddies accidentally wore a "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" shirt to a 9-11 candlelight vigil on campus (as in, actually on September 11, 2001), and we never let him forget it. Welcome to those proud ranks! *salutes*

I posted about it on a Survivor fb group. There was a guy who responded. He said his Grandfathers were both Survivors, and fans of the television show - he told them about it, and they thought it was hilarious!

Hmmm.. faux pas...

Not sure if this counts, but I was chatting it up with the lady who was waxing my eyebrows this weekend and she mentioned that she had grown up in a third-world country, and I said "mm hmm" to encourage her to go on with the story (it had been quite interesting up to that point), but then I thought, who ever says they come from a third world country? And does she think I'm affirming I think she's from a third world country by saying "mm hmm"?

Now people are making custom content posters of Busty Girl Comics for Sims 3 and saying that they were inspired by the beautiful bosom of medleymisty.

My social faux pas of the weekend: a friend is visiting from Kyoto before her flight back to the States next week, and I did not clean my apartment … at all. There are cups in the sink, no clean knives, and I just threw my clothing in the general direction of the basket to make space for the extra futon. I've been too depressed to do anything, and I only even got my entry written thanks to a timely combination of a concert and Coca-Cola.
