Green Room - Week 9 - Day 2
Jul. 21st, 2013 03:08 amSorry for the social commentary rants lately. I've been finding myself more and more at that breaking point where I just want to start screaming at some people. I'm also someone who doesn't particularly hold to the idea of "just not following the news". I have some pretty strong opinions about that too. ;)
Which means that rants are going to come out every once in awhile, and where better than where I have a captive audience?! Literally, a captive audience. If you start behaving, maybe we can do something about that chain that is digging into your wrist.
You have a new topic to deal with anyway, http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/675235.html so hopefully you are writing that instead of trying to bust out again... you know what happened that last time you tried... no one wants to have to go through *that* again...

Date: 2013-07-21 07:39 am (UTC)We make it.
OK, so nobody believes that, but the news that is making my head annoyed (you know that feeling you get in your head when something is not right?) is how our Prime Minister* has just managed to do a deal with Papua New Guinea to take all asylum seekers who arrive by boat in Australian waters. All of them. Apparently there is LOADS of room in PNG, they're happy to have them. Sure, we'll be giving them aid and financial assistance as a trade off, but I just can't seem to shake the feeling that there is a bit of colonial strong-arming going on here. It's really unsettling. Also, it's suspiciously right-wing a kind of stunt to pull, when we're only two months away from an election.
Colour me cynical, but perhaps our government is appealing to the more xenophobic demographic?
*remember, the one who used to be PM, then got deposed, and then challenged the one who deposed him, so he's now PM again.

Date: 2013-07-21 10:58 am (UTC)I may go get a tattoo today. I'm going out with some of my coworkers around noon, one of whom is getting a tat and the other is getting two piercings near the pinnae of her ear. I don't have any tattoos but have been wanting one. Searched designs on my phone and I found a cute and fairly simple fairy dragonling that I love, that I want on my upper breast area, near the front side of my shoulder, maybe 1-1/2" tall. Hubby is not fond of tattoos but I've warned him and he knows better than to say no when it comes to my own person.
Wish me luck! (FYI the tat on me in this icon is the temporary henna variety)

Date: 2013-07-21 11:59 am (UTC)The heat wave has sort of broke as in it's-still-warm-but-now-not-as-humid. I opened windows! I can take Kidz on walks!
I watch the news whenever I can and I have three news apps (NPR, the BBC, and a local station) on my phone. I like to think I have at least a passing knowledge of what's going on out there.
Oh, and as for what's going on today besides writing an entry? Taking The Kidz out! They've been housebound because of the heat, and I'm sure the second I say "walk" they're going to look at me and go, "Huh?"

Date: 2013-07-21 01:33 pm (UTC)My cat started her "come play with me/feed me, Seymour" ritual at 5:20 this morning. Seriously, cat? My kid sleeps in longer than you on average now. Let me sleeeeeep. Ugh.

Date: 2013-07-21 03:22 pm (UTC)I've been on vacation for two weeks and I have nothing to show for it except a ruined sleep schedule and reoccurrence of bad habits I broke during the school year. When I'm not on vacation, I can get a lot done. I go to work! I write! I cook and clean! but as soon as that routine goes away, I stop accomplishing anything.

Date: 2013-07-22 12:52 pm (UTC)Ordinary Wear & Tear:
- Relationships, romantic & non, and how they need the occasional repair
- Objects (or people!) falling apart after years of use
- Minds falling apart
Finding Serenity:
- Coming to grips with something
- Refusing to come to grips with something and somehow making piece with that
- Serenity, as in the ship/the movie
Playing with Fire:
- Pyromania!
- Firebenders (people who do tricks and the like with fire -- or ATLA/LoK fanfiction with actual firebenders lolol)
- Children lighting random things on fire to watch them burn (we did this with a Furby once, lol)
- Taking it with the idiom direction -- doing something that's ill-advised, taking unnecessary risks, etc
Can we tell which one I liked better? lol

Date: 2013-07-22 11:03 am (UTC)Also, it's 6am. So what am I doing? Bitching in the GR about how I'm wounded for life because my dry erase markers didn't hug me enough as a kid and gravity is conspiring against me and warping my delicate psyche. I should probably go to bed, since I'm beyond loopy right now. But bed is for weenies, I need to finish this damn entry, and I've probably got enough caffeine in my system to power a medium-sized city for a week, so bed is out of the question anyway.
RAWR! And stuff :P
Goodnight\Good morning, GR! <3
