I AM SO EXCITED!!!

THIS IS A GREAT DAY TO BE AN ‘MERICAN!

IT’S EVEN A GREAT DAY TO BE AN “AMERICAN” or whatever it is that you people call yourself.

SCOTUS GOT IT RIGHT!

Well, OK, maybe they didn’t go far enough. But it’s a really positive step in the right direction.

SEKHAR VS US means that we *can* use coercion to get people to do things/not do things we don’t want to see happen. I was hoping that they would outright say it was OK to use violence to get your way. Maybe next year! Until then, I plan on continuing to threaten you as often as I can!

Thanks SCOTUS!

And in case you didn’t get my “hints” – get your votes in: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/667269.html

The vote went the right way. And I'm proud of my 12 year old who posted he is glad about the vote even though his dad would throw a fit if he saw his son believes that "love is love."

Love is love. There isn't enough in the world. Why try to stop the happiness of others?

Kisses all around :)

Except for Gary. Because if I kiss him he might kick me. I am a hippy after all ...or at least, in spite of my exercise..I look "hippy." D--n hips! ;)

SCOTUS definitely got it right today!

Also, Wendy Davis my hero. She's the one who stood and spoke for 10 HOURS in the Texas state senate, filibustering the vote on what would have been the most restrictive abortion ban in the nation. When she was barred from continuing (because of three totally bogus "warnings") another woman spoke up, and then the crowd took over. It was AMAZING. Woke up to the news that the bill was dead. Long live women's rights!

I heard about her on TheYoungTurks and was wondering how it turned out. :) I'm so glad she stood up and filibustered something that actually needed to be stopped. :)

After they got busted for the fake-ass timestamp and announced the bill was dead, the crowd started singing "The eyes of Texas are upon you" - so beautifully pwned. There was a dude there streaming the whole thing live on his phone...which was awesome of him, but srsly, where the hell was the media? The streaming dude said at one point he had 15 thousand people watching his stream (online, at 1am), so clearly this was news!

Aww man, I would have liked to watch that!

And of course the mainstream media wasn't there. But I don't have time to go on a diatribe about corporate media and how it's a propaganda tool right now.

I'm so happy my marriage will be legally recognized by the federal government now. I texted my wife as soon as I found out and got a smiley face in response. xD

I wish more had been done on Prop 8 but it's a start.

Are you going to come back to the US?

Willow and Tara. :) I still mourn her death.

It was so wrong. Still mad at Whedon over that, and so many capricious things that happened late in the show. And Willow's later insta-love for Kennedy? Grrrr.

I know, right?

Did you know that Amber Benson (Tara) has written several novels (http://www.amazon.com/Deaths-Daughter-Calliope-Reaper-Jones-Novel/dp/0441016944/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1372270005&sr=1-1&keywords=amber+benson)? I haven't read them yet but they look interesting!

Lol, it misses your kitty. :) Tom and Jerry syndrome.

It might have gotten hurt? Was it moving around okay inside the house? The cat might have broken something catching it; a lot of cats go for the spine, so the mouse might not be able to walk.

I am so surprised and pleased that the Court made the right decision. 5/4 is narrow, but it was enough.

And California will go back to issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples beginning in July (i.e., about 13-14 days to turn the paperwork around). I am so happy for the couples who have been waiting for this-- and for the federal government being forced to recognize all marriages in regard to Taxes, Social Security, other benefits, and eventually... foreign spouses of American citizens. \o/

My guess is that everyone is just like "duh???"

It's a big step, but only for the states who've already got their heads out of their asses. Queers in the other 37 are still screwed…

Oh so hey, after a comment I got on my journal, I thought I should make it clear - I was really upset and angry at the universe in general and feeling left out and angsty and all existential crisis over whether it's worth creating anything after the double power outage took me out, but it wasn't personal against anyone here and it wasn't meant to be whiny.

I just have all these emotions, is all. ;)

Anyway, I worked through it, and I published the first chapter of my new EPIC Sims story Monday! :) So yay I have a project and I am writing and I am happy again! :)

So, I'm done early. I've read everyone's entries. I commented on more than half of them, which I'm not really bragging about, except it's way more than I usually do. I've voted and my votes have been received and tallied, or thrown in Gary's circular file, whichever. :P

All I can figure is it's because we had extra time. It's just like me to hurry and do something where there's plenty of time, and then fuck around when there's a hurry.

I read a lot about Paula Deen today. I also fussed at all my FB peeps for neglecting to link anything about it. The whole thing upsets me. blahblahblah

I'm trying to decide what to do now. I could go to sleep, as I did get up early today and I could probably fall asleep. I could go rewatch that video of the siamese kitten eating an ear of corn, "Nom nom nom nom..."

Anybody out there?
From: [identity profile] favoritebean.livejournal.com
I'm really happy that DOMA and Prop 8 got thrown out, but I'm having a really bad day today. I'm not sure anyone wants to hear, but it's not exactly private. Dealing with a threatened miscarriage, but I think judging by all the blood work done today at the hospital, it's going to become a full fledged miscarriage. Not my first, so I'm feeling extra depressed about the whole thing. On bed rest regardless. I am missing my friend's wedding tonight too. Just all around suck, I guess.

Oh, and I can't find all of the entries- not that I've had the chance to read with the hospital crap, but still. I'm assuming that if it's not in the main link it doesn't exist. Right?

If any of my comment is inappropriate, let me know, and I'll remove it. Sorry to be a downer. So trying not to cry right now.
From: [identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com
OH no! ::hug:: I'm so sorry.

Here's a link to all the entries. http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/667269.html?thread=68032133#t68032133

I wish there was something I could do.

Not sure what else to say really, except that I care and I'll be thinking about you, and also - *more hugs*
