I wanted to do a Fathers Day post, but since all my father figures have passed and/or I can't find any of their photos right now...um, yeah. Today has morphed in to "just another day" for me.

We're going to my in-laws', however, for lunch. My FIL is mostly housebound now, and he's been failing at an alarming rate for the past year or so.

Sorry to be such a "downer" ~~frist~~.

Hey, now. My kid is in my lap 90% of the time I'm in the GR.

...I want to make a Happy Father's day post on FB, but am now asking myself if I mention my wife or not. Biologically speaking, she is the father of our kid. Hm.

She may or may not be comfortable. I mean, we have lots of the same people friended on FB, so most already know (she outed herself on FB recently), but it's still one of those things I question.

The child is 3, so he isn't really aware of anything going on, really. ;) I have a lot of family on my FB who we haven't officially spoken to (but have so far not approached either one of us with questions when she changed her FB to reflect her gender/new picture, etc). The family members that HAVE been told are comfortable with it. Lots of friends are also comfortable and accepting of it.

It's just one of those things where I'm like, hm. lol I probably will make a Father's Day post but not mention her specifically, in the end.

Since other people are actually addressing your internal question, I'm just going to completely sidetrack it with "thanks for posting that question". Because, I'll be honest, it's not something that I would think about very often, but is a real life/practical consideration in a lot of people's actual lives.

Which is one more thing that I love about Idol - that these things come up and folks talk about them. Which, in turn, makes other people who might have never even thought about it go "Oh, yeah. That *is* an interesting question!"

Uge I should get my butt to the Pc and start writing my story.
I have it all worked out in my head and even have the character's name figured out.
I came up with something for southwestern Indian cuisine.
I shall not get too detailly as some might find it a tiny bit twisted but it does feature a popular character of mine.

On the airplane heading to Minneapolis then it's off to Vegas (after a 2.5 hour layover)! We will be in Vegas until the 27th. I got a start on my entry, hopefully I will get it finished and posted after we get to Vegas. Have a happy Father's Day!

This will be like our 11th time in Vegas - we make it out here maybe every other year. But they keep changing stuff so it's always something different to see! We will drive out to the Grand Canyon one day for sure and plan on seeing Cirque du Soleil's O show, and Penn & Teller, beyond that I'm not sure!

Happy Dads Day to all the dads and dad role model guys out there! I miss my own dad and FIL on days like these. Married Kid and White Knight went to Bonaroo. It's their honeymoon. Fuzzy1 and Maxipad will help us paint some today.

The problem with this cuisine thing is that it involves cooking. And you'd think I would have thought about that when I was at the grocery store yesterday and bought the necessary ingredients, since I did actually know what I was going to write about. But you'd be wrong. So now I'm procrastinating about going to the grocery store, which really means I'm procrastinating about my entry. 'Cause I rock like that.

I'm lucky in that I have two dads -- my dad and my stepdad. I've basically stopped buying Father's Day cards, though, and not just because I suck at putting them in the mail. It's hard to get cards for an absentee dad (no "you taught me so much!" for us) and a stepfather who actually helped raise me (where the "you taught me so much" sentiment would actually fit, but they don't make those cards for stepparents, ugh). However, I have talked to them both at length on the phone today, so I'm quite happy.

Also, I banged out a draft of my entry last night. Yay!

There are some decent "step-parent" (I prefer "Bonus") cards out there. I know because there was apparently some discussion today about how my future bonus daughter couldn't get me one *yet*, and there were no "soon to be Bonus Dad" cards. So she made me one herself!

There are some good ones out there, but they're hard to find. I hate card shopping regardless; when there are only three options and none of them are "right," it gets frustrating! But it's possible I'm a perfectionist. ;)

I saw the following graphic on my FB feed (just plain white text on a solid black background), so I LOL'ed and then reposted:

"Every day, thousands of innocent plants are killed by vegetarians. Help end the violence. EAT BACON."

So naturally, the token hardcore vegan on my f'list comes along and posts a link to the EPA in order to debunk the claim in the graphic. Plz confirm my sanity, GR - the graphic in question *is* an obvious joke, right? I mean....?
